Introduction: Frank provides top-quality, life-saving math tutoring on short notice and all year long. Whether you are drowning in a math class that is over your head or just want to boost your standardized test scores, Frank Newman of Lifesaver Tutoring can provide expert, caring tutoring to meet your needs. Frank can travel to tutor students in their own homes. For students who don't live in the area or can't make it to an in-person session, Frank uses Tutorcast, which combines videochat with a Khan-Academy-style virtual whiteboard. Students are always able to re-watch archived sessions if they need a refresher. Frank puts students at ease, explains concepts clearly, and employs a wide range of teaching and math skills to give you the highest-quality tutoring experience. It's time for you to get the help you deserve. Frank helps students improve their SAT scores. His past students, in just the past 5 years, have been accepted to top universities all over the country, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Wash U, Brown, Georgetown, and Tufts. Frank emphasizes showing work for the express purpose of reducing the risk of careless errors. He takes care to give as much guidance as is needed but no more so that the student grows independently capable. If a student has trouble understanding a particular explanation, Frank draws on his vast experience to use alternative explanations until the student "gets" it. Frank is also an expert with the TI-84 calculator and shows students how to take full advantage of this amazing tool in ways they don't teach you in school. Frank specializes in high school math tutoring and SAT tutoring. He also excels in college math tutoring, middle school math tutoring, ACT tutoring, GRE tutoring, and GMAT tutoring. Frank covers many subjects, including algebra, geometry, Algebra 2, trigonometry, precalculus, AP calculus AB, AP calculus BC, and AP statistics. Frank began tutoring math his sophomore year at Stanford University, and has loved helping students increase their mathematical skills and confidence ever since. He has worked with a diverse range of students in terms of both demographics and ability level. He prides himself on his ability to inspire and motivate all students to learn. In addition to helping his students raise their grades, he has formed close working relationships with them and their families. For Frank, tutoring is not a way to make money. It’s a way to give back to the community through trusting educational partnerships.

Frank Newman's intelligence includes not just intellectual brilliance. Yes, he is brilliant at math. He is also kind, and thoughtful, and expresses skills most sought in a tutor--the ability to connect with your child or teen, to communicate with sensitivity and insight, to continually assess needs and progress, and to instill confidence throughout the learning experience. Frank's quiet competence gets results efficiently. And along with math, his students benefit from the kind of high-quality, high-integrity relationship you most wish for in your child's life. As a parent and a professional working with children and families, I am pleased to give Frank and Lifesaver Tutoring my highest recommendation.

Frank Newman's impact on my daughter's ability to calmly work through relatively sophisticated mathematical thinking and problem solving has been remarkable. Yes, she had some ability that she brought to that discipline as a matter of nature. But it is sometimes easy to lose confidence, regardless of ability, in the pursuit of any level of mathematical competence, which can taint your sense of ability at any point, but especially at the earliest points of learning. I knew this from my own experience. It happened to me in 8th grade. A long, long time ago. But one skilled person's help got me over a "hump", which could have easily sent me on a different course, and as a result of his patience and skill, I later ended up at Stanford (Frank's alma mater, by complete happenstance), with degrees in electrical engineering, German intellectual history, and a masters in business. I know for a fact, that had it not been for that man named Bob Bryan, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, my journey would have been very, very different. My journey doesn't matter, and I don't have a clue what my daughter's journey in education and her larger life may be, but I know with certainty, that a guide/counselor/tutor who is able to gently, but thoroughly, help anyone understand the first principals of intermediate and higher math is a rare individual, indeed. The understanding gained leads to confidence, the confidence gained leads to success, and for some, the success achieved may lead to a pursuit of mastery. Regardless of outcomes, the guide/counselor/tutor's ability to impart confidence, and lay a foundation of the competence necessary for success, hinges on a number of skills and abilities. A personal capacity for advanced mathematical reasoning and disciplined logic is only one. The rest has more to do with being a caring person, who listens well, who modifies approach and explanation based on interactive feedback, and who also just seems to like people -- especially younger people. Frank Newman is one of these very, very rare, humans. I recommend his services highly.
