FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified as a group ex instructor with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. I am also 200-hour certified in yoga. I hold a TRX Level one certification and a Tabata bootcamp certification. I stay current in my field through workshops and conferences and online tutorials.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I identify as an athlete. I grew up playing sports and continued to play competitive club soccer into my late 20s. I took a lot of classes at the gym and decided to see what it would take to become an instructor. After my first few classes as an instructor, I knew this was the career I was meant to do. I LOVE teaching (i was an elementary school teacher) and helping others (I had aspirations of going to medical school and then worked in clinical research for 4 years). Training and teaching classes is such a natural fit for me. It is not "work" it is my passion.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I teach every format of group exercise but I currently really enjoy teaching Bootcamp, Power hour (cardio intervals followed by yoga with weights) Yoga and Standup Paddleboard Yoga. I also teach TRX. Most of my clients come to my group classes or bootcamp but I do also train individuals in a private setting too. I provide motivation to my students and I am the one who holds them accountable for their workouts.
