Today Joe finished the tongue-n-groove pine ceiling in my sunroom. Over the last few weeks, Joe has installed around 700 sq. Ft of bamboo flooring and new bamboo stairs.
His work speaks for itself. I started with a small dining room to make sure I was happy with the work. Then I had him move on to more flooring, stairs and ceiling.
I am picky and appreciate quality.
    Joe completed the work beautifully.
He always showed up on time, ready to work, and cleaned up everything at the end of each day.
The email quotes breaking down the charges is helpful.

I will continue to use Joe for upcoming projects.
His quality and work ethic are outstanding.
The only recommendation I can give is to have all your questions and estimates emailed. His wife Tina handles that and was very helpful in finding local resources.

Joe is absolutely amazing. My husband and I contacted many companies for quotes on our floors and all were outrageously priced. Joe came out within two days and gave us a quote and even provided us a list of the materials we would need to order to complete the job. His price by far beat out the competition and was very reasonable for the 1100 sq ft we wanted laminate installed on. Burgess Flooring got back with us always within a few minutes of contact and answered any question we had. We originally were quoted a two day completion time for the project. The day before we were scheduled to start, I gave birth to my daughter and we brought her home the day they started the project. Joe and his team worked so hard to complete this project as fast as possible and completed it a 1/2 day before scheduled. They even went as far as bringing flowers to congratulate us on our new addition. The craftmanship was amazing as well....my husband (who is very picky) could not find one thing wrong with any of his work. This company went above and beyond to not only provide quality craftsmanship but to adjust to make our transition into a family as smooth as possible given the circumstances. I cannot say enough wonderful things about their customer service, their craftmanship, or the fact they are just all around wonderful people. They are certainly worth every penny and more and we feel so blessed to have chosen them to complete this project for our home and family.

If you're looking for flooring installation, Burgess Flooring is the way to go. Joe just installed laminates in the downstairs of my house, and completed the whole job in one day. The floors look great, and I couldn't be more pleased. The floors changed the whole look of my house, and the workmanship down to the little details far exceeded my expectations. So if you're looking for a great price and someone who takes pride in his work, look no further than Joe at Burgess Flooring.

I believe they tried to overcharge me. I had 284 sq feet to have wood flooring laid. I was quoted $1.75 to remove carpet and install wood. Halfway through job I was asked to go purchase more nails as he ran out. I refused. Secondly, he tried to charge me for 320 sq ft due to all the boards he damaged. I purchased extra and he used almost all of it due to scratching pieces, incorrect cuts and poorly placed nails. We argued over this until he gave in and charged me the original price. Had I not challenged him, he would have charged me an extra $200 plus the cost of nails. The quality of his work is ok. There were several pieces installed with scratches, but for the most part it looks good. I have always paid for true square footage when having carpet, tile or wood laid.

Joseph B. from Burgess Flooring replied to this review on October 9, 2013:

First of all, in all flooring jobs there is what is considered waste. This is wood that is handled and cut and pieces are installed and there is waste from those pieces. Otherwise, you would have a room full of boards all the same size. We charge for wood that is handled and cut. That is what you were being charged for, not to mention the area that was added after the original quote that was given. We have always charged for the amount of material that is handled, including wasted material. You don't challenge the company that sells the waste, why would you challenge the company that installs the waste? You are the first client that has ever "challenged" our pricing. When we give an estimate, we provide a shopping list of materials needed for install. You were located out of state and we were not involved in the process of purchasing materials needed for install. Part of materials needed for install are nails. That is why we tell our clients we are an installation only company. Joe tries to catch any pieces of wood that may contain scratches prior to installation, but he can't catch every one. We pride ourselves on our reputation, which is outstanding.

I had burgess flooring come out and install 760 square feet of laminate flooring they did a excellent job very professional. His rates were real reasonable. They cleaned up well after themselves. I have since had him come back and do two more rooms. I have gave his info to several other people all were pleased with there work.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Our services are, for the most part, installation of pre-purchased wood flooring. Some have already done tear out and disposal, others have not.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. We have recently installed flooring for Bath and Body Works at both Southpark Mall and Cotswold Mall. We also installed flooring for Aerie by American Eagle in Concord Mills mall.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Make sure when hiring for flooring that is is a specialty. Not a handyman service. There is a difference. Never pay by the hour for flooring, it could end up taking a week to install. Make sure they are insured.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. That handyman services are not the best way to go when hiring someone to install your floors. You need pros with experience.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I pay close attention to small details. Including cutting door jambs and trimwork for wood install and using power stretchers for carpet install. I also work hard to help you save money. Tips like tearing out your own carpet can save you big money. Unlike others, I dont want to leave you broke after new flooring. I have offer a great special that includes carpet, padding and install for $1.40 a square foot. I want to help you improve the look of your home because I am a homeowner too!

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy being able to save homeowners money. I love to have my clients glowing with pride after they see thier new floors. I take pride in the fact that all my clients are able to refer me to thier friends with peace of mind that they will be completely satisfied as well. New flooring can change the entire look of your home, and the fact that you allow me in your home to install it makes me feel like I have accomplished something at the end of the day. Noone takes pride in thier work like I do.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. The most frequently asked question is: "How do you do it so much cheaper?". The answer is easy. I, along with my wife, do our work from our home. We have little to no overhead. We are the installers. Most companies and contractors sublet the work one or two times before the actual installer gets paid. That means at least three people are getting paid from one installation. You are paying those three people. Some companies do not even know the installer. You hire them and they hire someone else and they hire someone else. Can you even trust the installer that they have never met? Are they going to even show up? Who knows?
