Survey findings and summary
After a two-month survey of over 6,000 small business owners nationwide, Thumbtack.com has released new data showing that small businesses gave Raleigh a 'B' for overall small business friendliness, and an 'A' for its licensing requirements and rules. Raleigh's worst grade was for its training programs, where it earned a 'D'.
Some of the key findings for Raleigh include:
- Raleigh small business owners ranked the city in the top-10 nationally for the friendliness of its zoning ordinances However, it also received a 'C-' for its unfriendly labor and employment regulations.
- Metro Raleigh ranks as North Carolina's best region to start a business.
