FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The fee for services depends on the type of session (individual, family/couples), the length of the sessions (typical 45 minutes up to 90 minutes or 2 hours depending on situational needs) and the level of education of the therapist (licensed master's level therapist or PhD level doctor).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As someone who has been part of & studied issues related to the LGBT community for over 25 years I (Michelle Topal therapist & owner of Change for Living Counseling PLLC) have a deep understanding of issues related to sexual identity/orientation, homophobia, coming out, the impact of heterosexism & what it means to be a sexual minority in this culture. I continue to develop my understanding through my work, readings, consultation with colleagues & workshops.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We all do this because we are committed to understanding ourselves & others & because we care deeply about reducing the suffering of those around us. It's that commitment that makes helping people find paths that make their lives better, fulfilling & purposeful. Also, because we believe that we all have the ability to grow & change, we want to help people feel hopeful & a sense of possibility, even under the most difficult of circumstances.
