FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As a Professional Land Surveyor we are required, by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors, to obtain annually a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education to keep our license active. The NC Society of Surveyors plays a large role in making sure we have access to numerous classes throughout the year.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I performed a boundary survey on a 17 acre parcel. This parcel was the residual parcel from a larger tract of land that the family has received by a King's Grant. Throughout the years the family had cut the land up for each generation of heirs. This residual tract had overlaps and gaps from surveys performed about 100 years ago. I was able to resolve these issues with a minimal amount of additional fees.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't just look for price. Look at the product you will receive. Always, and I repeat always get a survey when buying property. The price you pay for the survey is minimal compared to service you are receiving. You will have a map representing the property and improvements you purchased.
