James illustrated an entire comic for me in 2008 and I was impressed by his attention to detail, his suggestions for a better story, and the way he altered his style to be more '50s "world of tomorrow" to match the needs of the book. His final design of the key character, a failed genetic experiment, needed to be both grotesque and sympathetic, and he really came through. I can't imagine Adam Among the Gods without James' illustrations. I've worked with a lot of artists in my 35 years producing publications and I highly recommend James as a dependable, skilled and conscientious partner for any illustration project.

Mr. Lyle is very professional and produces quality work.
It has been my experience that Mr. Lyle meets set deadlines in producing artwork in a timely manner in most cases with time to make changes before the actual final deadline.
I have used him for logo design, Custom comic book artwork covers, as well as spot illustrations for a novel in the pre-production stages. I am also proud to own several custom pin-up commissions for my private artwork collection produced by Mr. Lyle. I would highly recommend Mr. Lyle for artwork projects that need an eye for detail and layout.

A. Know that creative services are time consuming. Besides the amount of time it takes to come up with a creative solution to the problem, being a one-man studio your project will have to be worked in to the schedule and so patience on your part is required.
A. Illustration, Cartooning, and Sequential Art--though related-- are three very different disciplines. Illustration is about telling a story in one complex image. Cartooning is about telling a story in one simple image. While Sequential Art is about telling a story in many images (either simple or complex depending on the project).
A. Know what rights you wish to purchase and you can save money and time. That is, if your interest is in being the first person to use an image (allowing the artist to keep the future rights for later resale) then only plan to purchase that right. If you insist on keeping all the rights (a "full buy-out") your cost will increase as the artist has to compensate for the loss of potential income.
