I have 18 years experience playing guitar, including training at Berklee College of Music. My approach to teaching guitar is to cater to a student’s personal goals and interests, according to their particular learning style.
My recommendation is a balance of learning technique, music reading, music theory, songs in various styles (pop, rock, jazz, etc.), and improvisation. However, I will not pressure a student to learn things that they have no desire to learn - unless a young student’s parent says otherwise.
I have a lot of experience, insight and resources to offer to students of all ages, from beginner into advanced levels, on acoustic or electric guitar. I am willing to go the extra mile to encourage my students in their pursuit of guitar, which may mean helping them choose a new instrument at the music store, or attending a performance to hear them play. My goal is to do whatever I can to support a student’s enthusiasm for guitar and music.
