Survey findings and summary
Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has released the new results from the second annual Thumbtack.com Small Business Survey. The 2013 study draws upon data from over 7,000 small business owners nationwide and shows that New Jersey improved its overall grade slightly, rising from a 'D+' in 2012 to a 'C-' in this year's study.
Some of the key findings for New Jersey include:
- New Jersey small businesses gave the state roughly the same marks as last year, including a 'C-' for the ease of starting a new business in the state. New Jersey also earned a 'C' for its small business training and networking programs.
- Among major cities nationwide, Newark ranked last, earning an 'F' in multiple individual categories.
