- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Did you know that only 15% of Makeup Artists are professionally trained? It is pretty important to try and learn a little about your Makeup Artist before the first meeting. Ask about her training, or if she primarily self-taught. How does she stay current? Do you have work samples I can view? As Makeup Artistry is my selected passion and profession, after eight years without ever attending formal training, I decided to research the available Artistry programs. A selection of my business vendors (from California, to Maryland, to NJ) each referred me to the school I then decided to attend - Make-up Designory, NYC, NY. Not all great Makeup Artists may have attended a formal program; however, all great Makeup Artists will have commonality. Your Artist should not feel offended by these questions, as she enjoys working with clients whos primary objective is receiving a professional service.
