Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. DJ services have popped up all over the place in recent years. Look for DJ's that are full time. Part time DJ's usually have full time jobs and can't devote enough time to prepare for your event like a full time DJ. You generally will have better success with a DJ who is full time and solely focused on making your event the best it can be.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Cost is a question every customer asks. It is an important question but there are other question that are just as important. Consider the DJ's experience, musical style, musical collection & presentation.

Less expensive DJ Companies vs more expensive DJ Companies: and less expensive doesn't always equate to worse.

Larger more expensive companies tend to pay less to their entertainers because they have a large over head. They frequently use lesser talent and pay them less. Similarly smaller companies who charge less may be superior in service because they have less over head. They can afford to pay for better talent and still make a profit.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. I know how confusing it can be to hire a DJ for your event. You have all kinds of DJ’s charging all kinds of prices. How do you know you are getting good value for your money? Before doing anything there are some important questions you need to ask first.

1. Who is the DJ and what is the DJ’s Style? -
Is he or she high energy or a cool hip lounge DJ
or a DJ with a very funny sense of humor?
Find out what your getting. Let the DJ fit your style.

2. Music - What types of music does the DJ carry?
Not all DJ’s are alike, for example,
some DJ’s specialize in a club setting other DJ’s excel
in a mobile setting such as a wedding or a bat-mitzvah
other DJ's specialize in Latin, Rock, Country, or Top
40 music. Not all DJ's perform in the same way.

3. How much experience does your DJ or entertainer
have? The more years of experience
your DJ has the better your chances of a successful
party.

4. How long has the entertainment company that you are
interested in been in business? DJ businesses that
have a minimum of 3 years of experience are
acceptable, 5 years or more experience is even
better. DJ Companies really tend to hit their stride
after 5 years. There is no substitute for a DJ company
with lots of experience.

Apply the information I've given you and explain to
customer service your needs and wants. Your input
will serve you well.

A. 5 Of The Most Frequently Asked Questions for Hiring a DJ

1-How long has your company been in business and how experienced are your disc jockeys performing at various types of events?

When it comes to a Special and in many cases a once in a life time event you want a DJ company with experience (at least five years or more). Donald Williams Entertainment has over twelve years experience, and some of the DJ's working for us have up to 25 years of experience.

2-How much will it cost to hire a DJ for my event?

Everyone wants to be sure they receive good value for their money. Human jukeboxes will always charge less than Entertainers and/or helpful planners. Prices will typically range from $350 for "human jukeboxe" to $2000 and higher for the cream of the crop Entertainers.

We pride ourselves on providing high quality professional DJ's at a fair price. You can always call for a price

3-Will the DJ's time be limited for my event because of other commitments?

In most cases the answer should be NO! The venue usually dictates the number of hours at a reception. Depending on the package you select, some packages include unlimited hours, Which means unlimited overtime.
However during peak Wedding & Bar Bat-mitzvah season we sometimes book more than 1 job per DJ on a particular day.
If this is a concern just give us a call and we will be able to find a solution for you.

4-Are you able to play continuous music?

The answer to this should always be yes. When you hire Donald Williams Entertainment, the music keeps going from beginning to end.

5-How much music will the DJ bring to the event?

This should be a significant amount with over 5,000 songs as a starting point. Our DJ's carry between 20,000 and 40,000 selections to every event.
