On-Call Tutor

My tutoring is really academic coaching. Of course I clarify the subject matter, but I do so in the context of guiding students through their solving of homework problems. My tutoring thereby supports and develops students' independent study skills, in particular the independent study of subjects that have quantitative problems. Thus, my students develop a skill which can help them through other Science and Math courses. As payment, I also accept checks written to the educational non-profit, The Posse Foundation (see http://www.possefoundation.org/ ). I consider my tutoring to be teamwork w/ the student. I really enjoy working w/ students, helping them to make the most of their intellectual efforts. My many years of experience as a Science student, as well as my experience as a tutor, enables me to provide them w/ strategic hints that lead them to "ahaa" moments.
