Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. A couple of things.
First is that there is a difference between a Club DJ and a Mobile/Wedding DJ. There are some of us that do both but mostly one or the other. Book a DJ that does what you are looking for. Example; for a wedding, hire a DJ that does weddings. For a Teen party hire a DJ that does teen parties. Mega night club requires a real Club DJ that does mega clubs.

Second. More expensive does not mean better! Some of us actually care about you and your finances. Of course, I want to make too but I know that good honest service will continue to offer good pay for me. Don't let the glossy photos and slick website fool you!

Third. If you are hiring for a major event like a wedding, MEET THE DJ IN PERSON BEFORE SIGNING YOUR CONTRACT!

Fourth. Have a real signed contract!

Five. Take the time to check their references. if they hem and haw, let that teach you something.

Most important. Follow your gut! You will know in your gut whom is the correct DJ for your event.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like making people happy. I realize how corny that sounds but it is true. I have been a DJ on and off for thirty years. Since I have returned to the business with less ego and more experience and maturity, it is a much different experience for me and those I provide music and entertainment for. I can tell by their eyes and smiles.
