FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I currently study voice with Steven Schnurman, a renowned Juilliard trained Master Teacher, who studied under the infamous Beverly Johnson. I also take part in and lead workshops and master classes to enrich both myself as a vocalist and my students.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved teaching as well as music. I am so lucky that I get to do it every day!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Make sure that any voice instructor works on the basics of healthy vocal technique. Any teacher who says they are a voice teacher should be able to not only explain the major anatomical parts of the voice, but they should also be able to explain how they work in relation to the development of the voice. Many students both voice and piano students alike) receive repertoire that is too challenging or ambitious because they are good students. Students should feel good about their voice and piano studies in their lesson while being held accountable to healthy practice schedules. Try out a few teachers in the area and see what works for you!
