Introduction: What I bring to the table is quite unique because of all the different things I've done in life and continue to experience. Not only am I a lifelong musician and performer, I've worked in all kinds of various aspects of the music industry as a record company employee, a live sound and touring engineer, as a tour manager, as a manager of music rehearsal spaces, and currently as an Accountant. So when you record with me, you're not only getting an experienced engineer that will get you a great sounding CD, you're getting someone who can thoroughly understand where your head is at on so many different levels from your life experience and being able to relate to what you've done and what your goals are, to being able to focus your recording budget and helping you manage your expectations for your career.

Upstart Studios answered our call with reasonable rates and a personal interest in my bands needs, when it came to recording our first album. Producer Chris Gibson, had an ear for improvement, not creative control and with that, helped us with a kick ass record that was voted and won Best Thrash Metal album of 2009. Our band APATHY will be working with Chris and Upstart Studios again for our 2012 release. Upstart is small but packs a punch, its not cold or threatening! I will say for me I always craved a beer after-wards. If your looking for an economic place and space to record your demo or album, Upstart is the place, Chris will take his time and work with you as an artist or a band, getting the best results you want to give. Since our debut release we have opened for such acts as OVERKILL, FORBIDDEN and DRI . Recently we were seen and mentioned on Big Brother (CBS-TV) reality show. We are a rock/hard rock/pop band just wrapping up a demo and we couldn't be happier. Chris is a really friendly, personable guy. He's a brilliant engineer and a fantastic producer. We all felt really comfortable immediately. I almost don't want Chris to see this next remark, but his rate is ridiculously low for the high quality outcome and experience. His advice/ideas are of the utmost value and he helps you become a better musician in the process. I wouldn't even entertain the thought of recording anyplace else with anyone else. Can't wait to go back and record some more.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Pre-Production is key. Especially when you're on a budget. It's very important to make sure you and your band are well rehearsed and have all of you parts as tight as they can be. The last thing you want to have happen is not being prepared to lay down your tracks when the clock is rolling and the rest of the band is giving you dirty looks.
