Long story short Ė This is not the relocation company you want if youíre expecting professional relocation services, reasonable prices or a straight answer!
Use this company if you want to be ripped off, lied to, or your stuff lost and/damaged.

What an awful experience!?! I can honestly say that I have not had a worse relocation experience with a mover. This is probably my 6th multi state move in 10 years so this is far from my first rodeo. If any of you have seen the movie ďMovingĒ with Richard Pryor that will only begin to explain how things went. I relocated this time from Jersey City to Miami and out of all of the quotes I received, I chose Eagle Van lines. Their price wasn't the lowest but they had the best BBB rating (A+ 6 complaints in 3 years). At pick up, everything was good. No real problems to speak of. When it came to the delivery and dealing with the people running the operation, thatís where the awful experience begins. After not hearing from anyone as is got closer to my delivery date, I called to get a status. I was told my stuff on a truck on the way to me and was given a truck driverís number to contact for further details. I called the driver who told me he did not have my shipment. That I would need to call the office back to get it straightened out. Concerned at this point, I called the office. After speaking with multiple employees, no one could tell me where my belongings were. This continued for more than 24 hours. I was passed around from employee to employee and promised callbacks that never happened. The next morning, I called and I spoke with a female employee that told me to call the driver back because she didn't know what to do. She needed to talk to her boss and get back to me. I called the driver again and he explained that he did have my shipment but, he was direct to drop it off in a storage facility. He told me the Operations Manager made a mistake and tried to deliver to the incorrect location. Angry at this point, I called to speak with the Operations Manager. Would you believe that the Operations Manager was the female employee that told me she didn't know what to do?? She refused to come to the phone and told the dispatcher that someone would call me back. After a few hours, I followed up and told to "just be patient". Around 6:00 PM that evening, the owner, Eli called to tell me that a truck would be making my delivery the next day at 11:00 AM. You would think everything would be fine now, right? That's what i thought too. The next morning, I get a call from Eli who tells me since he had to order a different truck to deliver my belongings that I would be responsible for paying for it. Obviously, at this point, I am LIVID. I really just wanted the settle into my new place and get this over with. I offered to split the difference with him. He laughed and asked me if I was married. Not really sure where he was going with that. Add $300 to my original $1500 quote.
Around 1:00 the next day, the delivery truck showed up Ė you know the one I paid $300 for that was supposed to be there at 11:00? I get down to the truck and there are two guys standing behind it, trying to push it. The truck barely made it to my house and now itís broken down. Since they canít move it any closer, I would be responsible for paying the LONG CARRY Fee. He wanted to charge me $600! Not happening! He actually asked me if he could drop my stuff right in the loading dock and someone else could help ME move to my apartment. RUK???? Please add $150 to the current rate of $1800.
Once everything gets inside, Iím inspecting. I have a cigarette burn in my sofa. No one in my home smokes and the leg on my coffee table looks like it got wet so now itís wobbly.
    Terrible experience - NEVER AGAIN!

Like to start by saying a client is in titiled in writing a bad review however making up stories is not right. This client is upset because we charged her for a shuttle (which is clearly on the form she signed and said that a 58 foot truck was accessible to her building) The only reason we charged her more was because she added a lot more cubic feet and we charged her $225.00 (not 300 like she says) We did have to put her stuff in our stoarge in Florida because she requested to be delivered after the 5th of July and her stuff arrived in Florida before the $th. We Did Not charge her for storage or redelivery! When we called her to inform her that she would need to pay for a shuttle she requested we split the cost, which we did not agree to,That is when Eli asked her if she was married to point out that her husband is responcilbe for her bills not Us! Not because of the way she is trying to spin this tale!! When we have a client fill out the long distance sheet we ask them if a tractor trailer can deliver to the house and she put yes,but that was not the case we did need to rent a truck to load it on from our tractor trailer to deliver her (A shuttle could run up to $450.00, we only charged her what we paid for the rental) How can we rent a truck that would have to be pushed to her location?? This client was really upset however it was her responcibility to ask her building if a tractor trailer can deliver to her place as we do not know every street in the United Staes! She told me that she will go on all the sites she can to post her LIES! And Promissed me that she would ruin our reputation and company name. All because she did not want to pay for a shuttle? We had her property wrapped and when we checked the blankets there were no Burns On it so How was her sofa burned?? It was Not another Lie. we feel bad that this client had to go and Make up a story about her move . Again we charged her $225.00 because of extra items and $275.00 for a shuttle. So there were no over charges and her claims are with out merit. I invite any one to look at her contarct and paper work that would show why she was charged more than the estimate and how we went out of our way to deliver her when she wanted with no additional charges for storage or redelivery.

Professional and Courteous. Efficient ( gave me a 4 hr onsite estimate and completed in 4.5 hrs). Cost of additional packing and moving in addition to hrly rates were mentioned in the estimate. Didnt break any items ( though they have to be told that items in certain cartons can be fragile else they assume everything is wellpacked). Had an issue with moving my couch into the new building, required some smart thinking on their part but they gave up a little too easily. Finally the super of the building egged them on to get it done by providing them the correct way to do it. All in all would recommend them and would use them again.

Thank you for posting your review, it was our pleasure to have serviced your move. It's like I told you my guys are professionals and we would make sure that no damages to your items will happened. The estimate was off by 1/2 hour and as I promised: no Hidden fees. I'm not sure how you made that assumtion, however I know my guys handle every thing as it were fragile and do not need to be told what was and what was'nt fragile (even if the boxes are not marked) like in your case, however as you saw "No Damages!" We hope that you will like your new place, and wish you the very best! Thanks Again!!

Although they were an hour late, The movers were professional which showed in their work and the way they carried and wrapped my couch, drawer and bookcases. I had some issues exiting the building I was moving from but the movers handled it well and did not cause any problems.

However, I gotta worm other customers of the extra charges they added. I had all my boxes ready so they didn't charge me for any packing tape or boxes but one of the movers kept arguing with me that I had to pay tolls that was clearly said included on the quote I got. I was also asked to pay any tickets they get and pay the meter.

Moving out from my old apartment and to my new one took about 2-3 hours. but they insisted to charge me for 5 saying it was the minimum. Of course it came as a surprise to me since I was never told that when I booked them. So be aware. Other than that, everything went smooth and nothing broke.

One other thing that I thought it was unprofessional is when I was booking them, the lady scare the hell out of me saying that I was moving to a very dangerous neighborhood and that she though it was her duty to warn me. She certainly freaked me out and turn out that the neighborhood is safe.

In the future, I would like them to be more upfront with the customer and tell them what exactly they will be charge and if there is any additional fees. That way the customer can be ready for all that. Moving is stressful as is and adding unknown charges can add to that stress.

Hector Or Eli E. from Eagle Van Lines Moving And Storage replied to this review on March 16, 2013:

The estimate I sent him say tolls are additional, and this client moved From New York to New Jersey (tolls are asked for in cabs) We did not get a ticket so he paid nothing "extra" and NOTHING was added to his bill, We did all we said, with protecting his furniture and everything was moved with NO damages. We charged him the estimate (he signed and sent back) which again states tolls are paid by client. So I don't understand about the WORMING (sic) he issues here..lol However my repersenitive was comfortable when he called in to book that she had a friendly conversation, she should not have told him what she said, and we will address this with this rep. This client was charged not a penny more than my quote and overall he was very happy with our MOVING services. we hope him the best and much joy at his new place! thanks again for moving with Eagle van Lines and thanks for taking time to share your experience.

The pick up of the furniture went extremely well. The move is long distance so we are waiting for the items to arrive at the destination.

These guys were very professional and fast. Leo the foreman was exceptional. The move went relatively smooth although they were 3 hours late which set us back a bit and they underestimated the truck size leaving us with no other choice but to rent a moving truck and workers the next day.

I would definitely use this company again, however I would warn those of you who have never used a moving company be advised in advance of the supply charges and make certain when you get your quote that all your information is correct. We were provided a quote to move a one bedroom house when it fact it was a three bedroom.

I call Hector immediately to let him know that we were not happy about having to spend additional dollars, time and energy because as we all know moving is very stressful.

I think the company should pay the additional cost for the moving truck we had to rent or return the deposit. If I could ask for the time back I would but we know that's not reasonable or an option.

All in all the Eagle crew was exceptional and high remarks are in definitely in order.

Hector Or Eli E. from Eagle Van Lines Moving And Storage replied to this review on October 2, 2012:

We were mislead from the begining (though unintentionally says the client) as I spoke to the husband and he told me it was a "one bedroom", not "three bedrooms" of furniture. I even sent the estimate for him to sign at his wifes email, which they signed, with the inventory listed. Why were we not informed of another two bedrooms with other furniture? Yes we were late, however the guys packed that truck high and tight and got as much as possible in there. If the client would of told us he had another two rooms of furniture, we would of sent another truck with another man. This was a 5 man job done by 4 guys . The client was also notified of any packing supplies needed would be charged according to use (so why point that out) Over all It is best to be upfront with your mover and not hide the fact that they had two extra rooms of furniture. And please book in advance as doing it one day to the next there is always room for error! We wish The clients the best in their new home! Good Luck!

Over the years I have moved several times, but I just wanted to say that I just had the best move ever from Jersey City to Scot Run, Pennsylvania this past week with Eagle Van Lines Moving & Storage Company. I spoke with Hector at their office and he gave me a really good price, but I was skeptical that it was too good to be true. I was really surprised! The price did not change and the moving guys were wonderful. With this company, nothing got broken and more importantly nothing was missing. If you ever need a mover, I would highly recommend Eagle Van Lines Moving & Storage Company. You're the best, Hector. Thanks for helping me figure all of this moving stuff out, and thanks for answering all of my questions without loosing your patience with me.

Looking for a mover on line was easy, and with Thumbtack it was even easier! I was able to have a estimator come and see me within a 28 hour notice! When I contacted Hector he went over a lot of the basics with me and gave me a good ballpark figure. He told me it was best to have his Consultant come and see my shipment and give me a more accurate quote.Hector then connected me to Eli (which I later found out he owns Eagle) Eli was very professional as well and was able to give me what he called a binding cost for services. This locks the company into not being able to go over the estimate by 10% of the estimated cost! That was awesome! When I got my final bill, it was not even over by 4 % which was really awesome! The movers themselves were also very professional and hard workers (they all spoke english!) I was not surprised at how well the job was handled, I was given every answer and told everything before hand. They do have one of the best moving companies in the tri state and they are movers you can trust (They actually have that painted on their trucks) Mover you can trust, lol and They proved that to me,So I would not hesitate to call Hector and have him take care of my move (he had the building certificates done with no problem and took care of all the requirements with the building) Eagle van lines has a great customer service and is truely a mover worth calling.

I'm writing a week after a good experience with Eagle Van Lines. I needed to have two pieces moved from Brooklyn to North Carolina, and one of those was my grandparents' breakfront - an emotionally valuable family heirloom. I was impressed that the company kept each of the promises it made at the time of booking: my uncle said the packing and pickup in Brooklyn went well; the senior partner, Eli, called me with 24 hour notice of delivery in NC; the crew called an hour ahead and showed up on time, cheerful and competent. They moved the pieces into place and set everything up properly. I felt throughout the process that while this was a small job compared to a household move, that the company took the work seriously and that these pieces were important to us. Good job all around.

Well I hired eagle van lines through the email that I was sent from the company,it had all these nice links and stuff and showed pictures ,a video, well it was not hard finding them on the net! When I first called Eagle the guy on the phone was very nice and helpful. He gave me an estimate over the phone and then told me that he would rather send his guy to give me an onsite estimate.Eli Navon came to my home and was very professional and impressed me by giving me ideas and ways to SAVE money on my move! Needless to say that I choose Eagle vanlines to do our move.We were leaving Ny and Going to Florida with all our worldly possession,I was a bit nervious at first but when Eli's team showed up on time and uiformed I knew I did the right chioce. As they started dissassembling my bed and wrapping my furniture
I was delighted to see just how good they protected my stuff, these guys are very good and I would highly recommend them. The shipoment was delivered as promissed within 7 days (got there by the 4th day) and to my delight no damages and no extra charges were tacked on at the end.The estimate was almost to the cent and I was very very satisfied with Eagle and their staff.Thank you Eli for all your help (sorry it took so long to write my review)

Eli came to my home to visit and gave me a fair estimate, and answered all of my questions. I was still nervious. To my surprise everything was wonderful. The moving men were professional, polite, and hard working. The price did not change, and my stuff arrived at my new home on time, and just like it was when it left Bayoone. If you need a mover for any kind of move, I would recommend them...everything went just as Eli said that it would. No bad surprises, and they did reassemble my bed in the new place. These guys are certainly in the top 5 on any moving company list. Call them you will not be disappointed.

Being a second time mover with Eagle van lines i was not disappointed as the first move they did for me 4 and a half years ago.I am glad I kept their number! The move went by so smooth and again "no over charges" I will recommend Eagle to you reading this as well as all my family and friends. You will be happy that you decided to use them and then you can let every one know how it went right here on skill slate. Thanks eagle vanlines for all your wonderful workers and staff. You guys are the Best!

I was very happy with the way my move to Dallas was handled by Eagle van lines. They were very carefull with my stuff and delivered every thing on schedule as promissed and no damages! I would highly recommend them to all my friends and family.I choose them because a friend of mine used them a few months ago and he was very happy too.It was really easy with this company and that says it all!

  • 5/5 stars September 19, 2010

Recently I moved from Bayonne, NJ to Clermont, Florida. While looking for a mover, I was searching the internet to find the right company. Needless to say, I was really worried after reading some of the reviews. Then my friend told me about her great moving experinece with Eagle Van Lines Moving & Storage Companyin Jersey City. So I called them. Eli came to my house and gave me a reasonable estimate, I told him about my concerns about the horror stories that I have read about moving companies. He told me not to worry that everything would be handled in a professional manner and everything would be fine.

Well, I was really surprised that he was absolutely right. My stuff got here to Florida on time; the price did not change; the moving men were kind, considerate, and professional. I could not have asked for more. If you need a mover, I would recommend that you call Eagle Van Lines Moving & Storage Company.

  • 5/5 stars September 16, 2010

We were very happy with the services that Eagle van lines provided. At first I was a little shaky about my whole move, but after meeting with Eli and giving me a in home estimate.I hired them and they showed up on time (uniformed) Three guys that did a really good job.The loading was done so quickly and they inventoried and numbered every thing! These guys knew what and how to move my furniture, from the piano to the sofa, they wrapped and packed it so good it all looked like new furniture when it got to Florida (my neighbors thought so).But the delivery was about three hours late, they did have another three men to off load and they were also very very good (not the same men so I ended up giving two tips) they did deserve it, I mean each and every guy did his part and they worked hard so I did not mine the two tip thing.Every thing got there with no damages (thank God!) With all the stories we heard I was worried for my stuff,it took me a life time to accumulate so I was very please with Eagle's moving services from Queens NY to Miami FL,they moved us on May 28 and delivered it (as promised) on the 2nd of June, because of Eagle way of doing things it made it easy and i would Highly recommend them over and over. Please email me if you want to hear more or just need to talk with some one that really used them, I am a Happy Client At that!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Long distance moves to FL/CA/SC/GA
People putting a lot in storage.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Do not believe every thing you read , the best place to check on a mover is in safersystems.org (Click company snap shot) put in a dot number or mc number or even search by name.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Using Tub-aware or storage bins (plastic) is better than the cardboard boxes.Never make your boxes or bins over 50 to 60 pounds (better to have a few more bins than to have boxes brake open or get warped because of it's weight) Try to have all your small items packed and well padded. Use labels or a number system for easy delivery directions to where items will be going in new place (saves time over all money at the end)

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. FMCSA adopts STB Valuation Rule; Set to enforce May 15th
As you may know, on May 15, 2012 new valuation regulations will take effect as per the United States Surface Transportation Board. Under the STBís January 12, 2012 decision, you must change the valuation statement on your estimate and bill of lading forms and you must update your tariff before May 15th to be in compliance.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Have a list of items that you will need moved, let them know from where to where (zip code to zip code is best) let the floors you are going to and from be known as well (elevator?) Let us know if there are any restrictions in the building (move in by 5 pm only?) The better idea we have to what is moving the better we can figure the amount of time or weight your shipment will need.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. With all the right equipment and all the experienced guys to use it right ,we take extra care with all our clients possessions.Experience is every thing our operation has been in the industry for over 8 years now holding it's own with repeated happy clients,We believe that it's the service after the sale that counts,we pride ourselves in having an honest and open relationship with the client so that our ultimate goal is our clients complete satisfaction.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. With so many horrendous stories in the moving industry,I find gratitude in having my clients tell me how easy I made it for them, and being able to save them money with a few tips always brings a big smile to both our faces =)

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Do we sub-contract our long distance moves? With our own tractor trailers all deliveries are done By Eagle Van Lines trucks and employees.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. That there are still honest movers out here and Eagle van lines is at the top of that list.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. It was a passion to work with people and the cards were dealt I liked my hand.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Two days ago we had a Client move from Fairfield CT to Hackensack NJ it took 3 trucks with a total of 12 men and around 16 hours total to move them (6 bedroom town home) Full service move included all the packing and reassembly. There was also an additional stop at a storage place near their home. Client told me the service was priceless!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Every day brings us some thing new, we are for ever learning and looking for easy better ways to do things

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. The u-pak,and pods are gonna make our storage facility add equipment but will save a lot of time and space.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. 2 men and a truck 80.00 per hour
3 men and a truck 89.00 per hour
4 men and a truck 109.00 per hour
There is a minimum of 3 hours labor
and 1 hour travel time for a total of 4 hours minimum.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. How much does a mover provide in insurance for a long distance move?
