Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Most jobs in the past year have been retirements, birthdays, and weddings.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. You only have one chance to make a good first impression. The Jades DJ has made that cliche work for us for over 35 years.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. I would like to know if the DJ/entertainer is professional, courteous, friendly and knew his trade
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. The DJ business is not a cookie cutter business. Parties are parties but weddings are weddings and yet they are not all the same. The Jades DJ has done more weddings than some companies have done standard parties!
We also have personal contact with our clients, identifying their needs and making their event special
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. over 35 years in the DJ/entertainment industy gives me a unique advantage...experience counts!
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Helping to make memories for my clients
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. mostly people ask about price. I try to advise them that price is usually forgotten but quality remains forever
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. Way too many to list. :)
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. Wish they would recognize that my experience and musical know-how will serve them better than some less experienced DJs
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. The Jades started out as an accapella group. We migrated to a band and eventually a DJ company.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. We are proud to feature all our work. What gives us the most satisfaction is making our customers dance and enjoy their event
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. We subscribe to the latest music service (Promo Only), attend conventions and read some industry periodicals
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. Most developments in our field revolve around technology. This tends to change almost monthly. Most of the time, technology is good. Some people have watered-down the industry by attempting to become DJs by using technology and not by learning the business of entertainment
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. Performed at a Hoilday Party in Allendale NJ for a company. Around 45-50 people attended. It was a diverse group and I played everything from Motown to Raggae to Soca to hip-hop. This was a four hour event.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. Our pricing is usually taylored to the event, the customer, and circumstances. Weddings range from $495 to $1100.
Retirements, birthdays, communions, etc start around $300 up to $695. Time, conditions, venues and some other factors can affect the final price. These prices reflect a four hour event. (weddings prices at the $1100 range usually are for 2 DJs and include a cocktail hour and other included features).
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. I would suggest they become an apprentice to a DJ or Djs. Learn from a good DJ what it is to spin, mix, entertain and be a profession DJ. Learn the business from experienced professionals in the industry and see if this is what you want to do. Being a DJ is not just playing music.
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. How come you have never advertised your service?
ANS. In over 35 years of business, The JadesDJ has never widely advertised. We have remained in business almost exclusively from referrals from our clients. We pride ourselves in giving our clients the very best service for the best pirces and have kept pace in a very competitive business
