Steve, Stacey the boys and I would like to thank you for training our dog and training us. Dakota is doing great and we are a happy family. I would like to tell everyone some background of our dog. We got Dakota at 10 weeks old (pure bred German Shepard) and everything was good. As she got older she became too protective, to the point where she would not let anyone into our house or anybody even around my family. My wife would bring Dakota to my son's sporting events and would have to stand far away from everyone. We decided we needed to take her for training. The first two places we took her to were 2 local trainers and Petsmart, both places separated us from the rest of the class. Even though Dakota "graduated" from both schools none of our problems were solved. The next in home trainer (Bark Busters) we called had a 100% guarantee or your money back offer. This trainer ended up trying to train our dog from behind our fence he was also scared of her. After two sessions he never came back and also called us and told us to get rid of the dog because it was too aggressive and could not be trained. A friend of mine told me about A-1 Total control dog training academy and he said hes the best I've ever seen." I called A-1 and was offered a FREE 21/2 hour class. The class was over an hour from our house, but we decided to give it a shot because it was free and if we didn't get Dakota under control she would have to be put down. My wife and I took Dakota to the class and as Steve was approaching Dakota snapped and bit Steve on the leg. By the way Steve reacted when this happened we knew he knew how to handle her and he was going to have fun doing it. It only took us about 5 minutes to decide to sign up for the class even though it was far from home. We spent 5 Monday nights driving 1hour and 15 minutes each way trying to save our dog's life. Today we have a dog that we can take everywhere. We can have people over into our house and we are the envy of every dog owner in the neighborhood because our dog is the best behaved. Everyone that knew Dakota before cannot believe that this is the same dog. Many people stop me when I am walking Dakota and ask me how I got my dog to be so good, I tell them all about A-1. If you are looking for a dog trainer, your search ends here. I purchased a 10-week-old Australian Cattle Dog in late September and about two weeks after, we were at our wits end with the dog, and considered taking the three and a half hour drive back to the breeder. From not being able to walk around the house without having your pant legs pulled at, to sleepless nights (or nights spent on the floor with the pup), and not being able to sit on the couch without being bit, it was becoming too much to handle. Then we decided to go to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training. Years ago, I lived in a development with the most well trained dog Ive ever encountered. Being only about 5-6 years old, I vaguely remember my neighbors, my house, and even my friends, but I will never forget this dog. While living here, my family got a Great Pyrenees puppy that enjoyed nothing more than slipping out the door and taking off around the development. Luckily, when the trained dogs owner would see this, he would send his dog in a full sprint to circle around our puppy until we were able to get to her to bring her home. The dog was simply amazing, and was trained by Steve. Now, in just our fifth week of training, our puppy is on track to rival this dog from my childhood. Though she is still young and has a long way to go, Steve gives the tools and instruction for everybody to be able to do so, and we are confident she will get to this level of obedience. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Counting 7 1/2 years of dog training school combined with specialized training I have 42 years of experience. This is training that is at its most instinctive form and has not failed. I have advanced sessions that will help in with learning in how to communicate with you more. You and your dog will become more kin and he/she will be able to sense your commands and movements as second in command.
What types of customers have you worked with?
FREE 30 MINUTE CONSULTATION During the 30 minute consultation Steve will demonstrate his dogs, and evaluate your dogs. If you want your dogs to behave like Steve's, then you will sign up and pay at that time (with cash, check or credit card) and your 3-4 hour dog training introduction will begin IMMEDIATELY. This first lesson will introduce owners to proper dog training techniques and learning how to manage their dogs. We put pizza, candy, chicken bones etc.. on the floor and teach your dog not to eat them. At the end of your session your dog will not eat or beg for anything that is in front of him/her that they are not supposed to have, running out open doors or gates, walking on a leash without pulling, and those solving minor problems. At the end of the evening you will go home with things to practice and have fun with and set a date for the following 5 session. Each session will have yourself or between 2-6 pairs of handlers and dogs. It's best to start dogs at 10 weeks old (after the 2nd series of shots). Dogs, young and old, are welcome! Session 1 Behavior: BEHAVIORAL Problems Session (may consist of the following): a. House breaking b. Nipping/minor biting c. Chewing d. Dropping things and giving/bringing it back to you e. Digging f. Trash g. Furniture h. Jumping on people j. Running out doors/escaping. Walking on leash k. Coming when called l. Yard control (stay in yard) m. It help you to not only learn how to train your dog but to help you to understand your dog. Some sessions include: ADVANCED SESSION Teach your dog to hold/carry/pick things up, crawl across surfaces, or imagine having your dog bring in the Sunday paper. OBSTACLE COURSE For those that want to have fun teaching their dog to go through the paces. i.e. Hoops, jumps, tunnels etc. K-9 GOOD CITIZEN / THERAPY DOG This level is achieved by your dog completing all the of the above courses.
