Introduction: Michael J. P. Schewe, Esq., is an associate with Podvey, Meanor, Catenacci, Hildner, Cocoziello and Chattman, P.C., focusing his practice on all aspects of immigration law, from consular processing to removal defense. He has appeared in immigration courts across the United States, including New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas. He regularly counsels immigration clients on issues relating to asylum, cancellation of removal, non immigrant visas (including H-1B visas), family-based immigrant visas, and naturalization, among other topics. He also practices in state and federal courts, mainly in the areas of Employment Law, Family Law, and Complex and Commercial Litigation. Since 2011, Michael has been training employees of the Department of Child Placement and Permanency (formerly DYFS) on immigration law and four-tier substantiation. He is under contract by Rutgers and Montclair State Universities through the New Jersey Child Welfare Training Partnership. He serves the NJSBA YLD through its executive committee as a voting representative for Essex County. He is a former fellow to the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association, and LPM's current vice-chair of member development. As a former solo practitioner, Michael writes frequently regarding law practice management issues and has been published in several sources. Michael graduated from Marist College in 2006, Seton Hall University School of Law in 2009, and holds an honorary degree from Peking University in Beijing, China. He is a member of the New Jersey and New York bars and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the district of New Jersey.
