Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. No matter what the project is your looking to do, this is your home. Do your due diligence on the contractors you choose to hire. Call references, ask to come see the work that was done. ANY of my references would be more than happy to show off the quality of work that my crew and I have completed on there homes. We build relationships. It's not all about the bottom dollar contract price. In the end " The bitterness of poor craftsmanship lasts much longer than the satisfaction of price."

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I am a 2nd generation mason. All through high school and college I had the priveledge to work along side some of whom I consider the best Portuguese and Italian concrete masons. These men have long since retired, but I saw in them the pride they had on a daily basis. Early mornings and long afternoons with these men gave me an education that I could not buy anywhere.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Working with people. Taking someones ideas and adding a little of my experience to make it just what they wanted.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. A friend of mine once showed my what he called the triangle of work. If you were to draw a triangle on paper and put GOOD on one side, FAST on the other , and CHEAP on the other. Now choose 2 of these choices for your project.

Example: I would like my project to be FAST and CHEAP.
Answer: you can have it fast and cheap but it will not be good.

Some may say this is arrogant. In reality every market has it's higher pricing and it's lower pricing. You need to consider whom you feel comfortable with, and who will provide you with the best service you need. An educated consumer is my company's best friend.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I grew up in a Portuguese family, just about every Uncle and cousin in the family ventured out into business. Going to work with my dad on Saturdays as young as 5 years old. Playing in the dirt piles at that age of course, but around 13 is when things started to peak my interest.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. We are in the process of finishing a project in Alpine NJ. On this project we built a 120 ft long x 8 ft high 12 inch thick poured concrete retaining wall built on a 5 ft wide by 12 inch thick poured concrete footing for a pool area. 3 tons of steel re-bar reinforcement and 60 yards of concrete. Now with the winter snow, we are waiting for spring to place the approximate 2,500 sq.ft of concrete base for the pool areas bluestone patio entertaining area. The walls took 2 weeks to complete and all the concrete had to be boom pumped.
