Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. The Sparkling Lady is featured Face Paint Artist touring with The UniverSoul Circus, eagerly sought by all ... by everyone! Corporations and municipalities as well as schools and organizations, parties, clubs, tea parties, parent organizations and showers for adults. Children love The Sparkling Lady's gentle manner, shining, sparkling faces, funny songs, poetry and stories at communions, quinceañeras, and all events fun and educational!

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Always search for professional face paint make-up artists who use only skin safe face and body paints. Never accept the use of acrylic paints or what is called "black henna" on skin!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Who we are:
Central Jersey Face Paint Artists Guild members are professional face and body make-up artists working in Central New Jersey and surrounding areas.

Removing Face Paint:
Face paint is easily removed with a soap and water. Here's a tip: If you have a larger complicated/colorful design to remove, try using a damp paper towel or baby-wipe to begin with, then use a damp soapy washcloth to get the rest. Clean as a whistle!

Residues: Some skin may retain a color shadow with certain colors. Use a warm, soapy cloth. You may have to do this more than once. Try not to scrub. It should not take a lot of elbow grease to remove a good quality face paint.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. It is quite a uniquely artistic experience:
Beautiful gleaming designs, dramatic face paints in rich, fabulous colors and incredible jewel-glitter designs that last, studded with glimmering crystals ... accompanied by a gentle touch of tribal wisdom. Heritage Narratives transport listeners and expand their horizons.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love working with color and light; every opportunity to delight and surprise people by enhancing their party experience is a thrill!

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. I am a free-hand face and body artist with years of experience and insured by Summit Professional Entertainers Insurance. I am Founder of the Central Jersey Face Paint Artists Guild.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Working with The UniverSoul Circus has been very exciting! The first time I did a performer ... what a shock to find out that my first was to be the gorgeous Rahel, the amazing UniverSoul Circus Contortionist! I was so careful to create a lovely, colorful design around her eyes ... I was delighted to find that she continued to return to me again and again ...

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. A private party contacted me, very last minute ... they were very excited to find that I could fit them in and be ready and on the spot as if they had planned to have me there all the time! Everyone loved my glittering faces and tats (sparkling removable glitter tattoos) and I had many ask for my cards.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. Do you accept gratuities (tips)?

Yes! I believe that my work is excellent and I do everything in my power to provide and wonderful experience for everyone involved. I generally schedule a decent amount of time around each event so that I can linger a bit at the end.

My clients have often indicated their satisfaction with my work through their generosity in the form of a gratuity and I am grateful for their kind regard.

I have received tips from $5 - $100, but I am fully aware that satisfaction is best displayed in the faces of my clients and the number of referrals they give me, not in the amount of their tips.
