Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. The most common type of jobs that I do are usually shooting people. It varies from fashion photography, event photography and of course wedding photography along with corporate portraits or just simply portraits. I enjoy shooting people because I love to bring out the true beauty of the people that I shoot. I have a very strong ability to make people feel very comfortable and have a great time so that they forget that there is even a camera there. The results are outstanding and my clients love the work that I do for them. I am very passionate about what I do and I strive for excellence in all situations.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. One word of advice that I would share in looking for a photographer is to find out the depth of their experience. Many people call themselves photographers just because they have a digital camera and really little experience, you really want an experienced photographer to capture your once in a lifetime special moments. Also it is best to meet the photographer before the shoot so you know you like who they are and feel comfortable.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. It is always very important to ask what type of professional training one has in photography.
I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography as well as having studied with some of the worlds finest photographic Masters.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I have always been passionately amazed by light and have been photographing before I was 18. I knew from the start that photography was the type of work that I wanted to do because I am so passionate about it. I also got in this line of work because I love to see my clients happy and feel good about who they are and I am able to capture those precious moments that only happen once. I also love people and most of my work involves people.
Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?
A. Of course I am sure that you know that the largest latest developments in this photographic industry have come through digital photography, it literally changed the whole industry forever. I feel very grateful that I have a background working with film though have now become an expert in digital photography which I became a part of since 2001.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. My greatest advice would be to study photography and learn the language of photography. Either go to school or find a mentor that is an expert at it.
I actually do workshops for students and many people have hired me to teach them one on one.
I have taught photography in many schools since 1990.
I love teaching because I get to see the excitement when the student or students feel successful at what they have created. The rewards of teaching are such a gift.
