About Guy Yeaman

My name is Guy Yeaman. I have been professionally training dogs for over 45 years. I offer group obedience classes (both basic and advanced), private in-home classes, tracking, protection, Schutzhund, and in-board training at my home. My classes can be found in Reno, Sparks, Incline Village, Stateline, South Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Gardnerville.

I use repetition and praise methods. There are many training tools available. Each has its use. I use some; some, I do not. I would be happy to explain the purpose and usage of any training tool and my opinion of when they are useful and when they are not.

My basic obedience classes run $80-82 for a 6-week course (other rates available on inquiry). I guarantee results. Some dogs simply take longer to learn than others. You may bring your dog back to as many classes as it takes for it to learn for no extra charge.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I teach people to train their dogs in all aspects of dog behavior. I deal with aggressive dogs, fearful dogs, large breeds, small breeds, any and all are welcome.

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. Reno Recreation Dept. dog obedience program, May 26 thru June 30.
Carson City Recreation Dept dog obedience program, May 1 thru June 5.
Douglas Co. Rec. Dept. dog obedience May 2 thru June 6.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Give me a call and we can discuss what your needs are and how I can help you. There are as many ways to train a dog as there are dog trainers. Only by discussing various methods, can you be sure that you and your dog trainer are on the same page.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. We are not training the dog, so much as we are teaching the owner how to get what they want from the dog. Dog training is not quick. It takes time to build a relationship with your dog so that they want to please you.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. What sort of guarantee do you have? Do you have referrals? Do you use treats; e-collars; praise; etc.? How long have you been in business?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Are you willing to accept the responsibility of dog ownership? Dog training my way is not a quick fix. You must be willing to invest the time in your dog that it will take to get the results you want.
