WayLay Design's latest project is We Did Your Site. The aim of the project is to design web mockups for organizations and businesses who either want to redesign their existing websites or need brand new ones. We provide this at absolutely no cost to the organization or business. In such a flooded market, we desired to approach web design uniquely than our rivals, so we dropped the pitching and choose to let our design speak for itself. Please request a free web page mockup from wedidyoursite.com now!
A. One thing that always seems to catch clients off guard is content. Content is what makes the site. Now matter how nice the site looks or how well it functions, without content it is useless. The content comes from the client such as their About Us information, text they want on certain pages, any pictures they want included, etc.
It's always a good idea to at least have an idea of about how many pages your site will have, what type of information, pictures, and/or video you want on those pages.
All of our pricing is based on the number of pages and features (such as contact form, photo gallery, blog functionality, etc.). We never factor actual design and aesthetic work into the quote. So having all of this information helps us to provide as accurate of a quote as possible.
For instance if someone goes to a real estate agent and says, "How much for a house?", the price of the house is going to depend on how many rooms and amenities the buyer wants.
Also, by having content ready, it makes the process go much faster. We aren't waiting for content and the client isn't waiting for their website.
A. At WayLay Design our clients are more than just a job. We take a personal interest in every one of our clients ensuring the best possible design solution for your needs.
Our business model is about building long lasting relationships with our clients. It is our belief that our clients' success is our success. We take pride in our work and it shows.
A. We love the diversity of this job. Everyday is different for us. One day we can be working on a website that sells auto parts and the next day designing wedding invitations. The diversity of the job keeps it fresh with new creative solutions every day. We love this stuff and it never gets old.
A. The question we get most often comes from our web design clients. They always ask, "Will I be able to update the site myself once it is finished?" The answer is a resounding "Yes!"
We use a variety of Content Management Systems (CMS) such as Wordpress, Magento, and Shopify so that we can build a web design solution that the client will be able to add or edit information and pictures (and adding/editing products on e-commerce platforms).
Every client that works with us on a web design solution receives a completely custom user manual pertaining to their specific website. The manual includes screenshots and easy to follow step by step instructions on how to make changes and updates to their website.
Our clients love this because it means that they do not have to pay a web designer every time that an update is required as well as the ability to make changes right then and there instead of waiting on the changes to be made for them.
It also gives our clients more of a sense of ownership and control of their own site. All too often we hear from clients that their site is "being held hostage" by the designer with no access to their site management whatsoever. We do not keep anything from the client.
However we do offer affordable website management and updates with a fast turnaround time if the client does not wish to perform their own updates.
A. Well anyone that is involved in any type of web related business has heard of HTML 5 and CSS3 by now. These technologies are already in use but not supported across every version of every browser.
New browsers have all included this into new versions of the their software, Firefox 4, Internet Explorer 9, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari all now support it, the problem is the older versions of browsers that are still in use by millions of people. Because HTML5 and CSS3 are not backward compatible, all of the really nice effects and animations that these programming languages provide are extremely broken in older browsers causing layouts to be broken, functions not to load etc.
In a perfect world everyone would upgrade to the latest version of their browser right now and we can implement these awesome tools everywhere. But that's not going to happen so we have to account for older browser versions when building a website.
It will happen eventually, much like we have finally stopped accounting for Internet Explorer 6 functionality. This use to drive web developers nuts trying to get a site to function in Internet Explorer 6 like it did in all other browsers. Eventually it got so old that the industry just doesn't even factor it in anymore. Now we create a custom line of code that detects your browser version, if it's IE6, the site loads an alternative page urging the visitor to upgrade rather than showing them a site that will be very very broken.
So, HTML5 & CSS3 are going to really push web limits to the next level and it will be an exciting time in web history.
