About
I am a full-time professional tutor and certified performance coach. I work with failing students, low-performing students, and those students who seek enrichment and advancement. My caseload includes first graders to college students and adults. Subjects: Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Test Preparation My work includes getting to the source of what is preventing my student from realizing his or her full potential in any given area of study. My objective is to provide ways to help my students grow their potential. In addition to content, I teach my students how to learn and how to change in ways that will improve their performance. I fill gaps in my students' knowledge, understanding and skill set as it relates to their performance. I teach and model the skills that enable learning to happen and provide lessons and materials designed to develop and to refine critical and analytical thinking and reasoning skills. Creating a successful tutor-student relationship is key to a successful outcome. How I work: I build trust. Trust is the conduit to confidence and growth. I create an environment that enables my student to feel comfortable taking small risks, to experiment with techniques, and to comfortably talk about whatever is unclear or confusing. I go beyond mastery of content. Under my tutelage my student's learning, thinking, and test-taking skills will develop and grow, thereby accelerating their progress. I guide and support my student in defining realistic goals, creating and mapping a plan in order to achieve said goals, resulting in positive, tangible outcomes.

Carol happens to be one of my best friends as well as being a fine teacher, so when I was about to move to California and had to take the CBEST exam to teach here, I ran to her to ask her to "brush up" my rarely-used math skills. I actually told her,"you have only 2 weeks to do it because the exam is given once a year in NYC!" It worked! I passed and am living in Monterey! She is top-notch and a wonderful person as well.

This review credits CLM Achievement on my daughter's significant academic improvement and self-confidence developed during tutelage. CLM's unique approach recognized my daughter's academic experience, personality and comfort zone in learning and prescribed the right work exercises to get results. CML focused on the elements she needed to achieve academic and personal sucess, and got them. Thank you CLM Achievement for your sucess!

My name is Adam. I am 20 years old. I am currently a sophomore at St.Francis College. I've always been anxious about Math. My Math scores during my grade school years were abysmall. When I began my tutoring sessions with Mrs.Markman this all changed. Ms.Markman was a patient individual who always listened to my Math anxieties. Under her guidance my math skills improved. In the end I finished my 2 semesters of Math at St.Francis College. Thank you Mrs.Markman.

To have known Carol Markman for no less than a lifetime is to have the pleasure and honor to understand deeply how someone evolves their life mission. I have seen her learn, grow and change in beautiful ways through all our school years into the present moment of her generativity. Carol Markman is a devoted teacher and mentor, has enormous respect for the learning process, and is herself a lifelong accumulator of skillfulness and knowledge which she puts to use for the greatest good. On the receiving end of her tutelage on general matters as well as matters of higher thinking and learning, I feel privileged to have Carol as a friend. She is forever a coach and a mentor to me. And, this, from me, founder of Lucid Learning System's Intergenerational Mentoring Matrix of which Carol is a member, supporter and enthusiastic contributor!

Last week I heard from a student who I worked with last summer and into the early fall. Her goals were to gain admission to Columbia University and to reach an SAT score 2200 + I know that she attained her target SAT score, and then I heard the great news that she was accepted to Columbia, her dream school. I've been invited back to similarly prepare her sister.
