FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
It was one of those things that sort of just happened over time. I've always loved computers, but then who doesn't, I had my first computer in the late 80's, a Tandy 1000 if I'm not mistaken, made by Radio Shack at the time. Over the years I've always had computers and played around with them, but it wasn't until I was in my 20's that I really got serious about PC's, at least about certain aspects of PC's. I'm more of a hardware tech, I can build, repair & upgrade, etc. Assembling furniture is something I started doing a few months ago, because the computer repair business can be slow and bills still have to be paid. In all fairness, it's not like I haven't been assembling furniture from I was a child. Whenever my mom bought furniture, it was always my job to assemble them, my father always found some excuse not to assemble it. And over the years that never stopped and after having kids, if anything needed assembling ...daddy had to assemble it, so I guess furniture assembly was always there, just something I always had to do, so why not get paid for it.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Replacing Laptop/Netbook Screens. Having to re-install/upgrade the Operating System. Removing viruses & installing anti-virus & spyware/malware software. Resetting a forgotten windows login password. Upgrading/Replacing...memory (RAM), hard drive (HDD), processors (CPU), desktop power supplies (PSU) or motherboards (MOBO) etc.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had a job to assemble a Crosley 52" Stainless Steel Top Kitchen Cart/Island on October 10, 2016. The job took roughly 3 hours to be exact, but some of that time was spent trying to rectify certain manufacturing flaws I found. Even though it took longer than I thought it would, after I was finished, I felt very pleased looking at the end result. The customer was also happy and hopefully she will be able to use it for years to come.
