A. My most common types of jobs are sanding and refinishing.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. As far as inside secrets they are none really, my work is based off passion, hard work and my knowledge of hardwood refinishing or installation.

A. What I like most about my job is the reaction customers have when they see the finishing product of their floors.

A. Between oil base and water base, what is the best finish? When choosing between oil base and water base, the best route to go is oil base for its durability.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite story about work is refinishing every house on Noble ave in Bridgeport, CT between Boston ave and Roosevelt st.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Wood gives us some of the finer designer elements of nature which requires the right knowledge to bring out it's true beauty.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I learned the trade from my father, he has his own flooring company for about 15 years now and i spent most of my youth honing skills.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I recently did a job in Hastings, NY where the pine floors were about 100 years old and painted with about 3 layers of oil paint. Upon completion of the job the customer and the person where referred us did not expected that level of renovation.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Our way of staying up to date with the latest machinery and finishes is by talking to our distributors and constant online research.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. One of the latest invention in my field of work is the dustless system. This works by attaching a vacuum to the sander to eliminate all the dust. As far as future inventions are concerned I am optimistic about new technology that can make the worker more productive.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. A recent job that we completed was installation of pre-finished hardwood flooring on West 55 St in Manhattan. The cost to cover labor was $2.00 per square feet for 600 square foot of floor and we completed it in two days.
