About We take Pride in our Painting

Go green with We take PRIDE in our Painting.

Small owner-operated company, who takes "PRIDE" in their work. I'm a perfectionist. We take our time and do an excellent job.

Keeping our eye on the little things which makes the difference between a good job and a great job. In fact, we do such a professional, eye perfect job, that we guarantee it for one full year!

I'll even put it in writing! No other painter will do that. I personally do the work myself with a helper, the old fashioned way and do not send a crew to do it for us.

If you do it right the first time, it will last for years to come. That's why I can and will guarantee my work for one year! Not only do I guarantee the prep work, such as cracks, damage, etc., but also the paint job itself.

If there are any spots missed, I will be happy to come back and touch them up. I've been doing a quality job at a fair price for over thirty years.

I offer very competetive prices, about the same as other good painters.
There are no hidden charges and no games! I will come over and give you an estimate and then stick by it. I will try to work with you to fit your budget.

We can handle it all, such as wall repair, spackle and plaster, skimcoating, old flaking, cracked or peeling paint removed and repaired, cracks and blisters on walls repaired, stains killed, water damage repaired. We also do Sheetrock repairs, wall paper removal, ceiling borders, trim, seperate or split colors, stripes, accent walls etc.

We can even change light fixtures, switches, sockets and door knobs etc., any minor handyman work. ( Not construction.) I prefer to use Premium Benjamin Moore paint or I'll use your choice of brand.

Very neat and clean while working. You'll find no sloppy jobs here. We do not get the paint on anything, except the walls, ceiling, doors and trim.

We are reliable and dependable. We are bonded, fully insured and lead paint certified. We use environmentally safe products whenever possible, and I recommend the Ben Moore "Natura" paint, very low voc's and safe for the environment.

Many references are available on request. (there's some listed below) Also lots on Angie's list as well as 35 great reviews on yelp. If you need help with colors, I have both Benjamin Moore color sample books. They have every color they make. I will help you go over the color schemes with you.

Covering Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Westchester, some Fairfield, Putnam Counties. And we don't forget the Island. As stated, all work is guaranteed for a full year. We stand behind our work!

Ask me how to receive a 20% discount on all work. If I'm booked, please be patient. You'll find my work is impeccable and definitely well worth waiting for.

Joe completed work on our new apartment last month and I cannot speak highly enough of his work. My husband and I thought we could try to paint the place ourselves, but 5 hours in, with no real progress, other than terribly jagged lines, we did a search on Yelp and decided to go with Joe based on the glowing recommendations from other Yelpers.

Within a few minutes of my email inquiry, Joe responded with all the right questions and concerns. He was extremely professional, courteous and also super funny! Any professional service provided with a smile and a sense of humor is A+ by us!

Because of our work schedules, we were not able to meet Joe in person when he began the project, and only had the pleasure of meeting him upon completion of the job. Despite that hurdle, Joe communicated with me 3 to 4 times per day with a progress update. He handled this caveat with such coolness that a HUGE weight was lifted off our shoulders during what was a pretty stressful moving-in period. He was pretty much the easiest part of the process!

And then we saw the amazing job he did. Wow. I'm going to have to upload some pictures soon. Needless to say, my husband and I would not have come close to what he was able to produce. If you want a job done right, you must hire people who know how to do it and who are certified and insured, like Joe. And despite a massive mishap on the part of Home Depot - who gave us unmixed paint on our second purchase when we needed to buy a bit more - Joe did his best to ensure that the paint was mixed evenly and well on the walls. Joe is a true perfectionists so he is still trying to help me get a refund from Home Depot, but to our untrained eyes, all we notice is the great work he did on our new place so we can't imagine having a better job done! He truly transformed an apartment that had old white walls and drab yellow, seemingly hospital-certified doors and doorways, into a modern, cool pad.

    I can't recommend Joe enough!!!

Joe did an excellent job painting my apartment. He was very responsive during the bid process and has a way of establishing trust and credibility from the start. He knows what he is doing and is very diligent in making sure his work product is high quality and that the customer is satisfied. He cares, which is not always the case. Know that if you hire Joe, he will get the job done for you and you will be very satisfied in the end. I have already had a number of people comment on how nice the paint looks. It's the difference between a job that stands out and just having a fresh coat slapped up.

Joe was extremely responsive and quick to follow up after my initial inquiry. His work is great, and he takes his time to get it right. My building has an annoying insurance policy for contractors that we had to deal with, and Joe took the time to take care of all of the necessary paperwork. I highly recommend Joe.

Hey, I just wanted to say that Joe did an amazing job painting my 1br apartment. He was always on time and did exactly what we agreed on and even better. He's a very nice gentleman and a real professional. I am definitely recommending him to all my friends! Thank you, Joe!!!

From the initial inquiry to a completed paint job, Joe was fantastic. His prices are very competitive, and he truly takes pride in his work. He's responsive, efficient, and very knowledgeable. He was a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend him to anyone!

Joe did an awesome job. He did horizontal stripes in my bedroom. It took him two days only because I have made a lapse. I bought a wrong (too dark color) paint. Otherwise, he could have finished everything in one day if he didn't have to repaint the stripes. I could not be happier! Will definitely hire him again.

P.S. Don't hesitate to ask him for a color advice, he is very experienced and can give you a hand if you feel lost.

Joe Shallock, proprietor of We Take Pride in Our Paining, is an excellent professional painter. We hired him to do extensive work on our home after a flood from an overflowing bathtub damaged many of our interior walls and ceilings. The job entailed a lot of scraping, patching, priming, and painting of walls, ceilings and trims. We used some strong colors, which can be tricky, and his lines are near perfect. He and his assistant worked quickly and precisely, and the end result was superb. We were very appreciative that he came to our home to give an estimate and found his prices to be reasonable and fair. We will definitely hire Joe again for future jobs!

Joe Schallock did an excellent job. In one room he removed both difficult wallpaper and the residual glue patches. He then primed and painted and the paint, and the crown molding and trim, came out beautifully. We then asked him to re-paint a small hallway. This job too he did expertly and quickly. I appreciated his teaching me something about paint and how it dries, and I also appreciated how carefully he cleaned up after finishing working. I recommend him highly!

We were extremely satisfied with Joe's work and have not only recommended him to friends, but have used his services twice ourselves in two different homes. The days he and his helper spent in preparing for the paint job were well worth the wait. The results speak for themselves. Top quality workmanship.

Joseph did a great job! I have a HUGE brick wall in my apartment and had spent 3 days priming it. When I got overwhelmed I called Joseph in and in one afternoon he got the whole thing painted. He was fast and neat and pleasant to have around!
I'd highly recommend him and hire him in the future.

Question and answer

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Take your time and watch what your doing. When taping, the job only comes out as good as the taper. Keep the lines straight. Press the tape down again, before applying the paint.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Who's actually doing the work? You, or do you send a crew to do it? Is the person or company carry insurance? Is the company lead paint certified? Do you have any photos of your work? Do you have references you can show me?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. The customer needs to decide if they want a beautiful paint job that will stand out from the rest and will last for years to come or if they just want paint on the walls. You get what you pay for. The cheap comes out expensive.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work stands out because i'm a perfectionist. I personally perform the work myself. Assuring you of outstanding results.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love the look on my clients faces when they see the how beautiful my work and the rooms look.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. If I'm insured. The answer is yes. I'm also Lead paint certified. EPA licensed.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. With the economy circling the toilet, there are so many painters and helpers out of work. The majority claim to be professional painters. Most of which are not and were laid off for a reason. Throwing paint on the walls does not make for a professional. Even if you've been doing it for years. It takes skill and expertise to get outstanding results. With all the shoddy work being performed, customers really need to be more thorough when considering who will be doing the work. Rather than how cheap they can get it done for. You get what you pay for. Check credentials and referrences and if they're insured. If they're not insured, they could fall off the ladder and then sue you for your home. Buyer beware!!!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I learned to paint at a very early age. My early teens. Back then there was only enamal paint. Much harder to paint with. I was always a perfectionist. Still am. I treat every job/home like it is a masterpiece. I love to paint! I love making the apt. or home beautiful for the home owner.
