Introduction: As a cellist known for her “solidity and verve” (San Francisco Classical Voice), Molly Aronson enjoys a varied career as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and educator. She has performed across the U.S. and internationally with highlight engagements including performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, the Embassy Series, Bargemusic, Chamber Players International (New York), the Luzerne Festival Series, New York Composers Circle, Chateau Festival in Paris and Berlin, among many others.
As a proponent of new music, Molly frequently premieres, performs, and records music by contemporary composers. She has worked with influential composers such as Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Moravec, Guggenheim Fellow Felipe Salles, Shelley Washington, and frequently records with the American Composer’s Alliance.
Molly has performed with popular artists including the Eagles, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, and Michael Bublé at distinguished venues such as Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden. She has worked with Grammy-award winning producers and engineers recording on albums with many classical, jazz, and pop musicians, and can be heard on the Naxos Label and movie soundtracks for Warner Brothers and Sundance films.
Using music as a vehicle for positive change, Molly performs in nursing homes and dementia wards, schools, prisons, and has organized multiple fundraisers for causes related to Autism. She believes that opportunity begins with exposure and accessibility, and aligns herself with organizations and patrons that support young musicians in need.
In addition to keeping a busy performance career, Molly is passionate about music education and pedagogy. Her students span a wide range of ages 6-82 and levels, beginning learner to advanced young professionals. She is cello and chamber music faculty at the Bloomingdale School of Music, and maintains a private studio in-person and on zoom. She has taught as an adjunct cello instructor at SUNY Purchase, was a teaching artist with the InterSchool Orchestras, held faculty positions at Larchmont Music Academy, The St. Thomas Choir School, Luzerne Music Center, Interlochen Arts Camp (Teaching Fellowship), and was a chamber music coach for the New York State Summer School of the Arts – Orchestral Studies. She has given masterclasses, workshops, and has been a guest teacher at the Nelly Berman School of Music, Mannes Preperatory School, Artists of Tomorrow Jr. Summer Chamber Music Workshop, Garrison Performing Arts School, and Savannah Arts Academy.
Molly’s students have been admitted to the New York Youth Symphony, Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, the Interschool Orchestras Symphony, and NY All-State Orchestra. In addition to being leader in their schools and youth orchestras, they have won the Luzerne Music Center Concerto Competitions, Elite Music Competition, New York Concert Festival International Competition, and The Frank Sinatra School of the Arts Concerto Competition. They have been accepted to music programs at Boston Conservatory, NYU, Purchase College Conservatory of Music, the Queens College - Aaron Copland School of Music, and SUNY Fredonia.
