Brett comes highly recommended as ateacher and performer. As a teacher he works so well with teenagers, whether it is learning to play "set" or mastering the quads used in a drumline.
As a performer Brett is comfortable with rock, jazz or classic percussion as he is with hand drumming.
He,also, has connections in the New York music scene and can hook you up with the perfect group for your party or function

I hired Mr. Ripley to give introductory percussion lessons to my 12 year old son who has expressed interest in pursuing the arts. We have had 5 sessions with Mr. Ripley and my son is very pleased with the way he tries to teach what he has interest in. Mr. Ripley connects with his students in a very effective manner that urges them to strive for what they enjoy doing.

In just these 5 lessons my son has gone from knowing very little about drums to a adequate basic understand of percussion. Although I may fear loud drumsets in our basement in the future, I feel confident that Mr. Ripley has expressed how important it is to do what you love when it comes to the arts. For that, I am very grateful.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. My most common jobs are with private students and high school drum lines. Although, I also get a fair amount of Composing and arranging gigs.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Don't be afraid to try out as many different teachers as possible. Each teacher will have something different to offer and the more you pick up, the more well rounded you will become.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work stands out from others in my field because I take extra care in my students interests. I don't just teach them what I think they need to know, I work with what they are passionate about. After all, a more motivated student shows quicker and more consistent progress.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I really enjoy meeting new people and the challenge of figuring out how to best customize my teaching methods to fit their needs and style of learning.......And being able to talk drums every day of my life is nice too.
