- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
It was a cold and snowy Up-State NY day. Wind chills dropped temp. into -3 to -5. I had a service call for (No Heat) I got to the job and the home owner was an elder woman and stopped me at the door to explain she was on a strict budget and only had about $100.00 Dollars. I looked at her and said lets see what you have going on first. I looked at her heat and found that the furnace was very old and in need of replacement. I felt sick and thought what will she do now. Then I decided to let her know that she needed a part and the cost of repairs would be about $65.00 Dollars. I went to my shop and got a furnace and 4 of my guy's. I explained to them the situation at hand and asked if they where in it with me. They all said sure. We went back to the home and installed a new furnace in about 4 hours. I came up stairs to bill the woman out for the $65.00 and she had called her son because of all the work going on. She thought she was being ripped off. I explained to her son what she had said to me and that I couldn't leave her with no heat and decided to install a new furnace and only charge her $65.00 Dollars. He started to tear up a bit and said God Bless you. About a year later, I got a letter in the mail from a name that sounded familiar but that was about it. I opened it and a check for $5,000.00 Dollars and the letter said; ( My Mom didn't know she had money that was left to her by her late Husband my father, and I felt it only right that I made up for your great fullness to my Mom in a time of need. She raved about you and fell Ill soon after and passed away in her own WARM home. Thank You So Much!)
