I called a few trainers on thumbtack, and Catherine called me back immediately. I was in a bit of a panic as I was overwhelmed by my Newfie puppy [ my first Newfie as I had only Labs] of 4 months old. Monty came from a farm, and the first 4 months of his life were spent doing whatever he wanted. He has extreme energy and is always into something. Catherine came quickly and taught me and my wife games to play with him for impulse control. She explained to us that Monty needs a job as he is a working breed. She us soft spoken, knowledgeable, and patient. He responded immediately from the training. Catherine shows dogs [giant poodles] in obedience shows, and she is the go too person to get your mind at ease and understand your dog. Highly recommend.

Catherine is a great trainer for many reasons, including her hands on sessions and her thorough explanation as to why each technique works best for your specific dog. She holds a vast amount of knowledge on all different breeds of dogs and gave mine the exact attention it needed to comply with my training requests. I already saw a big difference in my dog after just the first lesson and I am looking forward to what is to come of our future ones!

Catherine was soooo amazing to work with! My husband and I re-homed a 2-3 yr old Rottweiler that had been through 2 rescues and was clearly a mommy at one point before making it to our home, but that’s about all the history we had on her unfortunately… that said, she would get skiddish around people when they’d come around and occasionally would nip out of fear, she also need some obedience training with commands and listening… we knew we had to change that behavior and also learn to work with the dog and the dog work with us as she got used to her new surroundings (especially bc we are currently expecting a child, we needed to know we could get her to be the comfortable lovable dog we knew she was deep down). So we searched all over and then I came across Catherine’s thumbtack page, and after reading about her, her credentials, and the reviews already written, we decided to give her a try, and we are beyonddddd happy we did! In 2 months of taking this dog in and introducing her to Catherine, our dog has made such strides! She no longer nips, she has become so much more comfortable around people, children, and other animals, and we’ve been able to teach her multiple commands. She seems happy and you can tell she feels so loved and comfortable in our/her home. If anyone is looking for help with their dog in any way whether it’s behavior modification, training, etc.. stop your search here and please give Catherine a try, you won’t be sorry you did! 10000000000/5 stars!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $150 per session for private lessons and offer discounts for payment in advance and for semi-private sessions.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After text messaging and an agreement to work together is reached an initial appointment is made. At that appointment I meet both the dog and relevant family members. I assess the dog's temperament and get a history from the owner(s). This enables me to develop a training plan and to begin working with the dog.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and do continuing education through this organization and other experts. I am also an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
