Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I'm a great believer in listening to what the customer wants to do in promoting their business or product. Partnering with the client makes for a better working relationship.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Hmmm, many graphic designers are really Klingons! Seriously, there are no inside secrets but you should do your homework and check their website for design samples.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love when I can help communicate a client's message through a design piece. Working with a passionate client is a great adventure.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Recently I got this feedback from a client: "This is absolutely the prettiest cover I have ever seen on a book. I feel like I could walk right into this book. You know I’ve looked at a lot of covers but this is by far the best looking cover I have ever seen." That made my day!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. I wish that they would understand the hours I put into their design project. Some of those hours I don't charge them for because I'm musing about their project before I actually start it. Good design takes time.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. Understanding the customer's message and what they are trying to communicate through a book cover design, brochure or advertisement. That helps me design the piece according to their message.
