Our team of talented and skilled designers and seamstresses can take a simple photo or sketch and create your dream gown. We focus primarily on historical and historically-inspired attire, but we can make anything from cosplay outfits to pageant gowns and dresses.

If you can provide a picture, we can make it for you. Customers love our attention to detail, and you will, too.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. We make clothing for everyone from Renaissance Faire patrons, to stage and television companies, to wedding gowns for brides and creative costumes for folks attending costume conventions around the world.

We can make, quite literally ANYTHING.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Shop around and go with a company who takes all the time needed to answer every question you have. So many times we see people purchase custom-made clothing via the Internet and the seamstress always seems to be too busy to answer emails quickly and reliably. If your seamstress doesn't answer emails within 24 hours, move on. Odds are that if they don't respond quickly now, they won't later, either.

Also, ask for photos of their work and ask how long they have been in business. If they can't provide photos for you, try working with a seamstress who can provide photos.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. *How long have you been in business?
*What training do you have?
*How many orders do you fill on a weekly basis?
*Do you meet all deadlines?
*Do you offer a contract for services?
*Will you give me a specific date by which I will receive my order?
*Do you offer a mock-up/fitting service?

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I can look at a photo, historical portrait or a sketch and make a garment that looks exactly like the garment in the image. Few people know fabric the way I do.

This is great for people who want to design their own clothing, but lack the skills to sew it themselves.

If you're a bride looking for someone to make your own designed wedding gown, or a designer looking for a seamstress to bring your design to life, we're your team.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How long will it take to fill my order?

The amount of time it takes depends on the number of people in my schedule ahead of you. For example, Spring is my busiest time of year since I am filling custom wedding gown orders for summer weddings.

When you contact me, I will let you know what my schedule looks like and we will discuss whether or not I can meet your delivery deadline.

When you order, you will fill out a form and enter an agreed-upon date by which you will receive your order.

We never, ever miss deadlines.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. We recently worked with National Geographic television and Extreme Makeover Home Edition to create some lovely dresses for both of them to appear in televisions shows.

We also were commissioned by Vanity Fair to create custom Elizabethan ruffs and wisks for the Lady Gaga shoot.

Testimonials

The Very Merry Seamstress provides exceptional customer service. I ordered my wedding gown from her. She worked with me on types of fabric that would be better for an outside summer wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and stunning. I still get compliments on the dress 2 years after the wedding. I would recommend The Very Merry Seamstress to anyone who would love to have a gorgeous, quality, and unique garment.
