Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. My jobs are never common! I entertain at birthday parties to help make the birthday child feel special and the center of attention. I encourage them, praise them and help them 'star' on their special day. For corporate events, I help to make the person who hired me shine in the eyes of their boss by offering the best entertainment possible. For business promotions, I add my marketing skills to my entertainment skills to continually help promote the business, products and services that business provides.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask for references. Hire a professional who is insured and guarantees you will be completely pleased with their entertainment services. If a performer won't stand behind what they offer, don't even consider them. When I work for people, if they're not happy, I either refund or prorate the fee or offer another program in the future. Why hire anyone else who won't guarantee you'll be thrilled with them? Would you hire a roofer, a plumber, a mechanic, a carpenter or any other service provider who wouldn't guarantee their workmanship? I guarantee my entertainment services! Why? Because I'm an entertainment pro!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. What kind of training did you get to qualify you as this entertainment service provider? How sanitary and safe is your equipment and practices? Personally, I go for additional training in all my service offering areas annually. It keeps me on top of my game, gives me new ideas and improves all aspects of me as a performer. I study with other top performers across our nation annually. I have performed for David Bowie for 4 years in a row, for Jim Henson's family repeatedly and for the VP of Sesame Street. Why not get the best? You get what you pay for! If you want your event to bring praises from your guests and have them talk about you and your event for years to come, get the best!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Do you guarantee your entertainment? Are you insured? Can you provide me with references? How many shows do you do a week? Are you a full time or part time performer? What is your other job? If you hired a doctor, would you want one that is a plumber full time and is a doctor part time? The same is true for performers. Get a full time professional performer, who hones their skills, invests in their business on a regular basis and is not distracted by 'another profession'. I am a full time professional entertainer. This is my life, and I love every minute of it. The kids know that and they love me too.
