Industry
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Many people struggle with knowing where to start — especially those who haven’t worked specific industry that they are dying to be a part of. But it’s not impossible. It’s definitely possible. And I want to help you do it. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing my clients succeed and get the job. So… why do you need my help? Sure, everyone can write a resume. Everyone can write a cover letter. Everyone can interview. But there’s a difference between doing each of these deliberately and: -Putting together a resume that simply lists all of the tasks of your old job. -Writing a cover letter that simply lists your skills. -Interviewing and simply answering the questions as they come. (But, wait… are you not SUPPOSED to do all of those things?) Well, that’s what a lot of people think. (These are the same people who never change careers.) There is much much much more to it than that. Applying to a job is an opportunity to come across exactly how you want to. Many recruiters/career centers/career coaches will focuses on the basic nuts and bolts: What was the job description of your last job? If you keep giving the job description of your last job, YOU WILL KEEP GETTING YOUR LAST JOB. Let me repeat: IF YOU KEEP FOCUSING ON JOB DESCRIPTION OF YOUR LAST JOB, YOU WILL KEEP GETTING YOUR LAST JOB. Over and over and over again. (And over again.) So, let’s try something different. Let’s focus on your next job. No matter where your dreams lie. Remember — you’re going to spend a huge portion of your life at work. Don’t you think it should be something you enjoy? But what if I really don’t have experience? Do I have to lie? No — I never advocate lying on a resume or anywhere else in the job process. (Or anywhere else in life). (Unless you’re playing “Two Truths and a Lie.”) (Because otherwise you would completely ruin the game.) You don’t have to lie on your resume, because you already have many of the skills needed for your new career. Now, the trick is to communicate that. (That’s where I come in.) Also remember — no one applying for the job is an 100% perfect match to every single item on the job description (except for the person who already has the job). But won’t hiring managers just “get” that I have a lot of skills that could transfer over to the new role if I send them a resume that shows them that I did a lot of stuff? No. No. No. (If a stranger at the park told you they were friendly, would you automatically assume that meant they’d be a good candidate for walking your dog?) (No.) (So… how can you switch careers?) Let’s work together. I will help you get life you want and deserve. Seeing people switch careers and succeed! It makes me feel so happy to see others achieve their goals.
