Introduction: Most people consider teaching as a "day job," a stable income, without much effort. I personally find my full accomplishment in teaching, fulfilling my deep need to help people finding themselves through music. I love experimenting with different personalities, and adapting myself to specific needs from people. I get very involved in my students wellness on the cello, always looking for painless playing. I love helping them developing ways of being confortable technically in order to express and feel more the music.

It has been wonderful to meet and study with Jeanne. I was afraid, at first, to take cello lessons, because I thought I would never be good enough to play the pieces that I like. But Jeanne really made me feel comfortable and confident. I feel I am making progress at my own rhythm, and I am having a lot of fun! She will really give the energy and time to help you. I am looking forward a lot to my lesson every week. Besides, she is very flexible on lesson times, if I have something that comes up with my work and that I have to reschedule. It is really convenient for me.

Jeanne is a great teacher for our son David. She is patient and caring, but also very demanding on practice time and focus, which is great for our child. David made a lot of progress since he started working with Jeanne, and we are very happy about it. He has been playing for one year and a half only, and he is now taking the NYSSMA exam level 3.

Best teacher ever! She taught me cello last year. She also mentored me before each recording sessions I had. Recently, I asked her to help me on Viola Da Gamba playing techniques as well. I discovered a great new repertoire. Composer Tobias Hume was a revelation to me.

Dear John Glad you liked my lessons. Hope my advice on cello playing techniques will help you for your orchestrations and upcoming recording sessions. This was the first time I had to teach a composer/orchestrator on "How to play the cello". Don't forget to write me a concerto? :-)

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I am expecting from my students to practice regularly, several times a week, even if it is only for 20 minutes. This is not a one way relationship. We are building something together, and each of us should contribute.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

We are not mathematician, and we don't have one answer to a problem. We are more like scientist, always coming up with hypothesis, always researching to find better way, and never entirely sure about the answer to a specific problem. It is all about keep searching and experimenting, which are good ways of staying humble.
