When hiring a child and adolescent therapist it is important that both the parents and the child/adolescent feel comfortable with the clinician. Parents can speak with the therapist on the phone and meet to determine if there is a good fit. If the parent/child is uncomfortable or the therapist does not feel equipped to work with the individual, the therapist may be able to refer the family to another professional who can provide help.
