Introduction: I have over 15 years' experience in teaching high school information technology and computer science. I had a small computer consulting business but could not afford to hire a receptionist, so I invited two friends who had just graduated from high school to answer the phones and take messages.
In exchange for their services, I would teach them how to use the computer. Things turned out well for all three of us as they learned to use the computer, and I recognized that I had the patience and skills necessary for being a good teacher.
I wasn't looking for a teaching job but a friend of mine told me that a school needed an IT teacher urgently. I went and spoke with the principal with the intention of filling in on a part-time basis until the school found a permanent teacher. However, it did not happen. That was how I ended up consulting on a part-time basis and embarked on a full-time teaching career which lasted for more than 19 years.
I taught computer fundamentals, including hardware, software, networking and using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). At the advanced level, I taught students problem-solving techniques and programming.
I have a passion for teaching, and I will do my very best to assist you to achieve the goals that we will agree to you achieving in a timely and organized fashion.
