- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is reasonable and not that complicated, it depends on the followings: size of the party/venue, number of equipments (including lightings) needed, and the event duration. You could save big money by getting a venue that has a great inhouse house sound system, because a large chunk of most DJs' fees is due equipment haulage and setups
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Driven by music passion since teenage, DJing for family and friend parties. In early 90s became professional DJ doing nightclubs, weddings, and various parties in W. Africa's city of Lagos. Then relocated permanently to New York in 1999, I bought new set of equipments and never looked back. I've had some great opportunities to work with some reputable DJs and DJ companies in NY areas as well as independently via Maestro Beats which I founded, and manage with a team of some talent DJs & MCs.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The best or cheapest price is not always the best deal, especially if you are planning a wedding. As a matter of fact, surveys conclude that nearly 100% of brides would have spent more money on their entertainment and made it their #1 priority in hindsight. A full-service DJ will normally invest 12 to 30 hours to your special event but it may appear that you are only paying for 4 hoursÃÂ. Consultations, music preparation & editing, set-up and tear-down, education and other business related endeavors add up to the overall success of your special. If you're looking for an iPod or just any DJ, you are on the wrong page. But if you're interested in hiring a seasoned professional and gentleman DJ with great personality, you got me. It's a big deal to have an interactive DJ who is on point motivating and creating a fun-filled atmosphere for your guests. There many cricket-djs out there who don't know what they are doing. So do your home work. Otherwise, you will get what you pay for.
