Introduction: I am a graduate of Teachers College at Columbia University, and I have meaningful teaching and tutoring experience. I have worked with students from Europe, South America and Asia. Some of my current students are from Turkey, Burma, Korea, Japan, Germany, Italy and China. I have worked with a diverse group of people, from housewives, lawyers, pop stars and waitresses to accountants, government officials and students. I treat everyone equally and work hard for everyone! My method for developing fluency is relatively simple; I try to get my students to do as much talking as possible while I catch and correct their mistakes and take notes for them. I also have my own ways to help increase vocabulary and writing weaknesses. I have become an expert on helping students prepare for the TOEFL. My students really experience a huge jump in their TOEFL scores. One of my students encouraged me to use the title "Most Interesting Tutor." As well as having gone to one of the best schools of education in the country (Teachers College at Columbia), I have done a number of interesting things in the world, and I am widely read in many different topics. The discussions my students and I have cover all fields from current world events to art, history, philosophy, etc. Best of all, I am very honest. I keep my fees affordable because I care about my students. My fees are only twenty dollars per hour! Please use the link above to send me email or text me. Email is better (By the way, I prefer to meet students around 53rd and Lexington in Manhattan.) Thank you. - Dan My ESL book: New York City Sucks, But You'll Still Wanna Live Here! (A Vocabulary and Reading Text for Foreign Learners of English) In the news: Awhile ago I was in the news in Asia. I was the private English teacher for the New-York based Korean pop group "Wonder Girls." Unfortunately, I did not feel that these (poor) girls were being treated as well as they should have been and so I quit working at their company and wrote to a Korean newspaper (to try to help the girls). This became a huge story in Korea. It was the 6th biggest story for this paper that year.
