Goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I take a personal, vested interest in the success of my clients. As one former client wrote about me once "her interest in our success was evident from the first session." As an example, there was a topic we discussed during a session, but I wasn't sure just how much they absorbed. So, to be sure, I sent them a follow-up e-mail, re-iterating what we discussed and explaining it even further. Another had a big interest in healthy cooking--I stumbled across some recipes I thought he'd like--and mailed them. Still another wasn't sure how to shop and read labels--so I took her on a "field trip" to both the supermarket and a health food store. I absolutely love it when I see a client making changes and especially when they tell me how great they are feeling--and how this has trickled to big successes in other areas, such as career. One of my former clients--really, one of my star pupils--was so motivated, I could see the changes in her weight within two weeks. Her energy levels skyrocketed! I recently ran into her and she was glowing--she told me that once we worked together, everything "seemed to fall into place instantly)--including her career.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Although I spent many (15-plus) years in the business world (as a PR professional and licensed real estate sales agent), I was always passionate about health and wellness. In fact, in the 1990s I received several fitness certifications, and was always known in offices as the "go-to" person. When the economy really tanked in 2008, I decided to ignite my passion--so I took a deep breath and enrolled in the world's largest nutrition school, The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Never regreted it--and I love what I do!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be clear as to how important it is to you to resolve the problem(s). The best success rate is one where the client is motivated and committed. For example, the person I mentioned as an example told me that things seemed to instantly change; she, however, was extremely motivated and had great follow through. Within two weeks of working with her, I could see her face looking thinner--but that's because she worked hard at it in between sessions.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Small, step-by-step changes create big ones. Most importantly, these big changes are permanent ones. The client has the opportunity to absorb the knowledge, understand it and incorporate it. This knowledge now becomes the new healthy habit. If you incorporate too many changes, too fast, the client becomes overwhelmed, doesn't understand why it's so important--and then either re-gains all of the weight (and maybe some extra) or reverts back to those unhealthy habits.
