Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. There are many designers out there. New York City is full of modern design and cutting edge innovation. Julseth Company uses those ideas and infuses them with classic, timeless design. Apartments and town houses are transformed into comfortable, unexpected "get aways" from the city.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Design is in every building, and every home. Some people really do not know how to use space to the fullest, and some people even take design for granted. Like it magically happened. I love creating beauty and harmony in the projects that I do. Using the space naturally, the light, and appropriate furnishings to create both something that makes sense and that clients adore. Seeing people smile with the finished results is what I love.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Customers Usually ask about prices. I say that interior design is a luxury, but one that anyone should be able to afford. Life has been kind to me, and I have a gift. And I was always taught to share gifts with the world.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes! I take in all lectures given at the D&D building. I also subcribe to many different design periodicals and I read them all as they come through my office. Also, my job requires me to be out in the field nearly every day so this gives me exposure to everything thats new and the latest developments. However, sometimes the latest developments are "trends" and to me, a trend is just that, and eventually it goes out of style. I like to use pieces and ideas that are timeless and classic for whatever style I am doing.

Q. What is your greatest strength?

A. I have many strengths. but I suppose that the ones that make me so good in my field is my humility for one. Designers have visions, usually right away. Some clients do, and others do not. For the ones that do, it helps to be able to take what they want, no matter how much sense it makes or not and make it happen. This also means that I am creative. Problem solving is a serious necessity in good design. Especially in Interior Design. Also in the years I have been designing, I find my personality is one that people love to trust and confide in.
