FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Design is changing so quickly and it is important to stay current on new products and techniques. I am a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) I am required to have 10 hours of credits every two years. I am also a registered Certified Designer with the State of New York which requires continuing education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Personally this is all I have ever wanted to be is an interior designer. I have always loved design, art, nature and helping people. I can combine all these with my work and more. From the time I was designing Barbie Doll furniture or driving my sister crazy by rearranging our room again. I love design and all the possibilities. It makes me happy expecially when I make others happy with their new spaces.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Designers are paid for their creative and product knowledge. We have great instincts and space planning capabilities. We are trained to work with perspective, space planning, scale and color. Most designers can imagine three dimensional. This gives us the ability to see the space complete before demolition/ construction even begins. It allows us to do a visual check of what we have specified to know it will complement the space and scale of the room.
