When your goals are a bit off the beaten path, there's no map to your destination. Together, we will deepen your understanding of yourself and where you want to go, then create step-by-step directions for your new career, new life stage, or new personal goal.

I help smart, creative, spiritually-minded people make progress in three areas:

* PERSONALIZE: Who are you? How do you relate to the world? What positive difference can you make among the people around you?
* ORGANIZE: How do you create order in your time, money, space and relationships? How does your inner world of thoughts and ideas affect your outer world?
* REALIZE: What goals would you like to accomplish? What steps should you take to reach your goal? How will you stay motivated?

I have two separate masters degrees in theology and psychology, plus I'm a nationally board certified life coach and member of the International Coaching Federation.

I provide one-on-one coaching via telephone and email and group coaching via interactive e-courses and webinars.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"Dawn's coaching has been without a doubt a great use of my time and money. I have been challenged and have grown in my own understanding of who I am. I have learned how to create healthy habits that motivate me to set larger life goals. I am growing, step by step, in how to use my time, so as to accomplish life goals that match my values. Thank you, Dawn." - Steve, pastor

"Because of your coaching, I really feel like I am in a strong and 'moving forward' place in my life, more so than I have felt in a long time." - Nicole, independent business owner

"This has been a fascinating journey." - Terri, professor

"Dawn pushed me to find answers on my own and helped me realize that I can accomplish so much, if I work hard. In fact, I finally enrolled in a difficult training course, and now I am certified in a field that I love! The coaching conversations 100% helped me get through the training." - Eoin, Bikram yoga instructor

Dawn is a skilled listener and expert coach. She is fully certified--(unlike many others!) with a background in organizational psychology and theology. She is able to help you focus on what you need to do to clarify your life goals and make a clear path toward reaching them. She asks great questions and honestly provides unbiased feedback that a friend would not be able to give. Whether figuring out your overall life's mission or simply finding a way to get your attention back on an old project--Dawn is a great cheerleader. Dawn's guidance helped me to successfully take the steps I needed to get out of credit card debt within a matter of months and then to re-focus my attention on my creative life.

I had a big decision to make, so I called a few close friends to discuss it. However, I just didn't resolve anything or feel at peace, so I set up a session with Dawn. Within the first 10 minutes of talking with Dawn I felt better, and within 20 minutes I had figured out what I needed to do next. Her combination of skills and knowledge in so many areas and professions made a huge difference for me. It's great to get support or encouragement from friends, but I needed guidance analyzing, exploring, problem solving, and strategizing, which is exactly what Dawn expertly provided.  The decision I made during our session set into motion a new chapter of my career that has opened up countless opportunities including moving across the country.

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. When you hire a life coach, you really hire the whole person. Learn what you can about who they are, what values you share with them, where they trained, what credentials they are, and how they approach their own life. Read their blog or other publications, join their Facebook group, follow them on Twitter or find other ways to learn about them day to day.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Since life coaching is not licensed by the state, anyone can say they are a life coach without formal training or certification. You will not make progress as quickly with a coach who is not trained and certified. Ask if your potential coach is a member of the International Coach Federation the largest and most prestigious coaching organization, which requires its members to be trained and certified.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Where did you receive your training?
Are you a member of the International Coaching Federation?
How long have you been coaching?
Do you coach in person, on the phone or online?
What other services do you offer that may benefit me?
How do you handle contracts and billing?
May I contact a former client of yours?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Buyers should consider what they would like to achieve through coaching. Although we often start with one issues and expand to others, it is good to be clear about the starting point. Are you seeking a new career, entering a new life stage, or about to pursue a new personal goal? Buyers should think about the delivery method: are they more comfortable with telephone coaching or email coaching? Buyers should also determine their budget for coaching.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I am uniquely qualified to coach smart, creative, spiritually-minded people because of my combination of training: my masters degrees in theology and psychology, my specific training as a life coach. I have worked in a variety of non-profit and arts related settings and now own my own coaching business. I am also more experienced than many life coaches, having started my business in 2007.

I often say that if you love learning about the world from NPR, you'll love learning about yourself from me. As you learn about yourself, you'll also move forward toward goals in ways you never expected.
