FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do a lot of continuing education. I like to stay on top of the latest products within the industry by attending trade shows relating to Hair and Cosmetics. As well as attending classes on advanced skincare at the The International Dermal Institute. I also attend advanced training pertaining to hairstyling and haircare. I like to keep myself up to date and well rounded in the beauty industry. That way I can provide my clients with the best service the industry has to offer. Also I like to be able to answer just about any questions that my client may have relating to their Skincare, Makeup and Haircare regime.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got into my line of work because makeup/beauty has been a true passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I truly adore the many transformations that you can accomplish with makeup. You can be glamorous and sexy one day and and be a glowy, bronze goddess the next day. You can make huge transformations with just powder and eyeliner. I love the creativity that the beauty industry offers me. Every photoshoot, runway, film or bride requires a different look so it's never the same. Also everyone has different features so I always have a different canvas to work with. Giving even the most simple look has a different outcome then last person. But the most wonderful part of my profession has to be the everyday clients that either never wore makeup or just hadn't accentuated their features. So it's always rewarding when your client is in love with the new look you have created for them. That they just didn't know they had:)
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice to a customer looking for a quality Makeup Artist. Make sure to ask about what their sanitation practices are for their kit. If you are highly allergic or have concerns about skin ask about what products they will be using on you. Makeup sure that you are comfortable with the artist that you have chosen and that they fully understand what kind of makeup look you like. It's very important for you as the client to communicate with your Makeup Artist so that they fully understand the result you are looking for. The most common reason a client becomes unhappy with the outcome of their makeup is the failure to communicate between the Makeup Artist and their client and vise versa.
