Using focused pressure applied to point locations along meridians, stretches targeting specific muscles and other techniques to break down blockage, a free flow of energy is restored. Thai massage is performed on a soft mat with the client wearing comfortable clothing. No oil or lotion is used.

Incorporated into one of the world's oldest healing modalities, my style of Thai massage is a blend of acupressure, medical massage work, and yoga-like stretches.

Your benefits from a typical session include: relaxed muscle tissue, release within restricted joints, overall stress reduction, and increased range of motion throughout the body.

Reinhold made a housecall to my home in Brooklyn. I really enjoyed the comfort and convenience involved with having my session without haveing to travel afterward. He was all set up with a mat that he brought with him in about 5 minutes.
The knowledge and experience this man has really shines through. I have been experiencing some restriction in my hip joints and he certainly knows how to get that area to open up for me.
The massage was quite intense, but whenever I felt like it was getting to be too much he seemed to sense it before I had a chance to let him know. Now it's been two days since my treatment and I am still aware of the difference in my body. Every time I get a deep tissue massage, I feel all "beat up" afterward, but with the Thai Massage I simply feel like it is easier to move.
I will definately be asking Reinhold to come back and will be looking forward to the next session with great anticipation.

I have been hearing about Thai Massage more and more lately so I decided to see for myself what all the raves are about. Reinhold had so many great reviews and his fees are easier for me to afford as well so I checked his on-line calendar and sent an email to request my appointment. He quickly responded and we booked the session. I like the atmosphere in his Union Square studio and found it quite comfortable. After a quick assessment, Reinhold decided to add some medical massage techniques and see how the work would affect my sciatica. As he worked I became aware of some other areas that I did not even realize how limited my movement had become and he had some surprising moves to address these as well.
Well, the method that he applied to my sciatica problem was defunately not fun, but it definitely got rid of the shooting electrical feeling I had running down the back of my leg.
Overall, my reaction to Thai Massage is quite posative. It is such a comprehensive full body treatment. Nothing was left wanting to be stretched out, kneaded, pressed, stroked or otherwise tended to. It's been a week now and I still feel the benefit.
If you have not tried it, you really should.

Reinhold is a careful yet powerful therapist who patiently accepted my fickle inclination and help me free up the restriction I was experiencing in my hip joints. I really appreciate the way he took the time to explain the theory behind what he was doing since this helped allot to understand and relax into it. If you believe in the "no pain, no gain" concept, he can certainly produce the gain.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I have three locations where I rent studio space by the hour. Two in Manhattan and one in Hoboken. Check my website for specifics. The bulk of my weekly regular clients receive their treatment s in the comfort of their own home.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. I would suggest taking a look at my on-line calendar to see when I am available before calling to make your appointment. This way you will be aware of all of the possible time-slots when we can plan our session.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work stands out from from others that do what I do because before my discovery of Thai Massage I trained in medical massage. With my thorough understanding of Anatomy and Physiology plus Pathology and Neurology and advanced studies in treatments for over-use conditions and pain syndromes, I come to you well prepared to address your specific concerns directly within the context of a Traditional Thai Massage.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. What I like most about my job is that I never get bored with this modality. To see first hand how transformative this bodywork proves to be in freeing the body from restriction and improving range of motion is always exciting and highly gratifying. I experience a scenario where my client looks like a different person after the session from the one who came in my door on a regular basis.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How many days should be between treatments if we are trying to attack a serious restriction?

I recommend at least one day to rest between intense treatments. From time to time clients experience a bit of stiffness in the morning the day after and intense session. Typically this clears up by mid-day at which time an increased comfort level and improved range is reported. Although most often this factor is not experienced, I think it's best to allow for the possibility of this happening just to be safe.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. The thing I wish that everybody knew about this modality is that the affect of a Thai Massage consistently proves to last longer than the Affect of a typical Swedish or deep tissue massage.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I went into this carrer with the intent on becoming a medical massage therapist. Toward the end of my two year program we were asked to choose elective courses with the intent to become more aware of alternate modalities. I chose Thai Massage because I had no idea what it was. Right from the beginning, I knew this work was special. At the end of the second class I found myself consulting with my instructor as to how I should go about making this my specialty.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Recently I rendered an in-home session with a first time client who had a long list of Thai Massage experiences in addition to regular Swedish and deep tissue massage. During the session she indicated that it was difficult to find a therapist who's technique was as thorough and articulate. After her session was completed and I was packing up my equipment, I heard her exclamation from a distant room in her home. What she said was,
"This is remarkable! I CAN SEE BETTER!"
I have experienced this phenomena myself in Thailand, but it was the first time anyone had ever reported this effect following work that I had done.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I have already made the trip to Thailand twice. Once in 2008 and I just returned from the second journey in Dec 2011. Currently I have about 260 hours of continuing education dedicated to Thai Massage alone.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. If you are interested in becoming a Thai Massage specialist, I highly recommend going to Chiang Mai Thailand for study. The way that massage is such a deeply embedded aspect of the culture will be a profound experience in itself. There are many schools to choose from that are tailored to westerners. Feel free to ask me for further details. Additionally, the cost of receiving a 2 hr. massage is so affordable that you can do this almost every day.
