Introduction: I offer very personalized instruction. I know that students have widely varied strengths and weaknesses, and I cater to what each student needs. I try to help all of my students truly understand the material - not just be able to regurgitate it for a specific problem. When their comprehension deepens, they are able to better apply the material to different circumstances. I don't take "I get it" at face value - I always do some probing to make sure that is the case. I also celebrate each small victory; I take pride in my students' improvements and try to help them get excited about their progress. I love seeing the moment of understanding. Especially when a student has had a difficult time with a particular topic, it is immensely satisfying to see him or her finally figure it out.

Rachel worked with my son Zachary to help him improve his SAT scores. Zachary bonded with Rachel in the first moment they met! Rachel has a way of making the learning process fun. She is professional and can relate to teenagers having been one herself not too long ago! Zachary looked forward to each session! The best part is that after 2 months of 3 hours a week Zach's scores went up significantly! I highly recommend Rachel! I would be happy to speak to anyone on het behalf!

Rachel has been tutoring my two sons for the last school year. She has been instrumental in keeping both of my sons engaged in math. They have been successful with Rachel's tutelage in keeping A's and B's in their advanced classes. Moreover, Rachel has helped tremendously helpful in their other classes. She is the best!!

I have nothing but nice things to say about Rachel! I was taking back to back online courses for Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 from September to December. Considering I hadn't done Algebra since high school and now being a senior in college I figured it would probably be a good idea to find a tutor to help get me through the courses. I was able to meet with Rachel twice a week for about an hour to an hour and a half. She's very flexible and will work with you to find an area to meet! We would generally meet for our sessions at a Starbucks around the corner from my job. She is very knowledgable about all aspects of Algebra and was great at explaining all of the concepts that were covered in my course. She was also very patient and worked with me at a pace that made me feel very comfortable, and to top it all off she's sooo nice! I definitely recommend her for anyone needing tutoring for Algebra in the NYC area!

Rachel has been tutoring my two sons (aged 12 and 10) since we arrived from Australia in February. In a short space of time she has ensured the boys are performing at a high level, challenges them each week and has instilled great confidence in themselves. Rachel is polite, friendly, professional, extremely punctual and just a lovely person. The boys look forward to their sessions which says a lot! We would highly recommend Rachel for maths students of all levels and abilities.
Math Tutoring

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my SAT students request tutoring for all three sections of the test, but I have also had students focus only on math as well as students who were near-perfect in the math section and needed to focus on the reading and writing sections. I also frequently work with students on their schoolwork, providing either sustained homework support or targeted review for tests. Sometimes, I also work with students who have missed school and need an intensive period of tutoring to catch up.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Tutoring is about finding a match. Of course, you need someone with strong credentials like my own. However, it is equally important to find someone with whom you or your child feels comfortable and who is able to develop a rapport with you or your child that will encourage success.
