We can't speak highly enough of Marvin Washington and Harlem Express. They moved our daughter from her Richmond, VA apartment into a Manhattan apartment on the 15th floor. Mr. Washington was on time, he and his assistants we extremely polite, and worked quickly. He was in constant contact with us as the move progressed from Virginia to NY. Don't let the "big" moving companies scare you from using this small company. They are fabulous. Thank you, Marvin.

Marvin and his team were excellent. They were on time, moved quickly, and even had additional packing supplies to make sure that the transport of my furniture was done securely. I would highly recommend and use Harlem Express for another move. The price was very reasonable as well.

Marvin and his team truly exceeded all of the positive reviews I read before booking with them. They showed up early and waited patiently until our ABF truck arrived. I was immediately happy with my decision to use Harlem Express when they took charge the second the truck arrived. They helped measure the height of the loading dock, then directed traffic and helped guide the truck into the loading dock, which was above and beyond anything I expected. It was Marvin and 2 of his crew members, and they were all incredibly friendly and professional throughout our move. They moved our truck load of stuff gently and quickly; they placed the boxes and items throughout our place according to the notes we wrote on the boxes and were incredibly careful moving all of our belongings. Although we only used them to unload our truck, I would without a doubt contract them to help load and unload and coordinate any future moves of ours within the city. They are the real deal and well worth what we paid them. Don't hesitate to book Harlem Express, they are truly awesome!!

I'm a young lady (22) who recently moved into my first apartment. I had to get my tv and stand up to a top floor walk up. Marvin and his men were very nice and punctual which I liked. They gave me a great rate and bought all my items up and even some extra items as well. If your looking for great movers these are your guys! Marvin's Harlem Express did an excellent job. The move was scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 9th from Port Jefferson located at Exit 62 from LIE to the City. It was in the morning after the day of the major snowstorm. Nevertheless, Marvin and his men were able to carry on with the job. They arrive strictly on time, which was simply amazing given challenging road conditions. They uploaded our stuff very quickly; got back to the city; unloaded even faster and very efficiently. I could not be happier! Harlem Express was the easiest, the nicest, and the most diligent movers I have ever dealt with.

Marvin was on time, courteous, and flexible. He made a seemingly impossible moving situation possible. I still don't know how he was able to fit that huge couch into my door and narrow hallway, but he and his assistant worked a miracle. In spite of the fact that the couch could not fit into the elevators as planned and they had to carry it up and down several flights of stairs, he was gracious and cut me a deal for the additional cost incurred. I will definitely contact him again for any future moving needs.

While collecting disability, I have been redecorating the large apartment of my elderly parents. Harlem Express has consistently provided me (a person w/low funds and physical challenges) top-notch service. On time, courteous, patient and kind. They even carried a huge work station down 4 flights for me once when I said there was going to be an elevator (not recommended).

HARLEM EXPRESS WAS AMAZING!!! Not only were they professional, helpful, courteous, and reasonably affordable, but Marvin Washington's company of two were both effective and efficient to the MAX!! They confirmed immediately, which was a sigh of relief being that I called them on such short notice (Monday, September 24th for my sister needed to move out literally three days later, Thursday, September 27th at 10AM). I had a very good experience using Harlem Express. I had a last-minute move (under 24 hours) that I posted on thumbtack.com and Harlem Express contacted me right away. Marvin understood my situation and was able to accommodate my move from Manhattan to Queens for early the next morning at a very affordable flat rate. I was moving the contents of a 1 bedroom apartment without any furniture or appliances.

The driver who arrived for the move was very professional and friendly. He even took care to make sure my fragile items and mirror were properly secured, even though I hadn't indicated I would have fragile items beforehand. The move was completed quickly.

I was very satisfied with Harlem Express. I would recommend them to anyone and would use them again.

Marvin and his helper were great!
It just so happened that on my moving date from a 4th floor unit in a walkup the unit above me was also moving out. On top of that two other apartments across the street had moving trucks come in. With all that commotion Marvin did an amazing job and managed to get all my stuff loaded into a trailer (we didn't think it would fit but he did it). I would definitely recommend him!

Marvin and his friend just came to our house to move a heavy couch out. When my husband and I moved into our home the movers had so much trouble getting the couch upstairs and into the room we joked that we'd need to saw it in half if we ever needed to get it out! Well, Marvin and his friend got the couch out in no time and without even touching our walls! They were friendly, funny and polite. A pleasure to work with. Would recommend them to anyone!

I had a wonderful experience with Marvin and his assistant. They were professional, courteous, affordable and easy to work with. My job was a bit complicated: moving a piano from a 3rd floor apt with stairs in Brooklyn to a cabin in the woods past New Paltz, NY. Marvin made the job look easy, moving the piano in a mere 30 min. He drove all the way out to the country and again moved the piano easily, up stairs and into a small place. I would definitely recommend Marvin and Harlem Express...they were awesome and made my piano move a piece of cake.

Marvin and his team were friendly, professional, and quick. Made moving from NYC--LA a little easier. Moving is stressful and he is relaxed and gets the job done quick and efficient. They loaded a small portable unit and manged to fit all my stuff. I was ready to either ship/or trash things that didn't fit. I would recommend them or if I was in NY hire them for future jobs.

Marvin was the first person who responded to my ad on craigslist and was incredibly respectful and courteous. The fee was very reasonable, so despite other responses, I went with his team.

I needed to move a 1br apt from queens to upstate ny. They were very understanding and even pushed back the moving time 1 hour when we requested it at the last minute on the day of the move. They were prompt and diligent. He and his 2 partners helped me pack up the 25% of the apartment that I hadn't gotten to and packed the van in record time. The drop off was equally efficient.

I will definitely use harlemexpress again for my next move. Thanks Marvin!

I found Marvin and his team on Craigslist. I hired them for an internal commercial move at my offices in Manhattan. Marvin and his team were extremely friendly, punctual, and professional. My only wish is that I wish I knew about Harlem Express earlier. Originally I set up a time with another company to help me move. They never showed up. After looking around for a company to help me move my stuff at the last minute I found Harlem Express Inc. From the start they were willing to help. They arrived within 15minuets of calling them. They moved me to my new place fast and with care. I would use this service again if I decide to move and would recommend them to friends and families because they were polite, courteous, and professional.

Let's face it, people: moving sucks. Moving really sucks when you can't be home, your stuff is arriving at an unknown hour (the dreaded "sometime between twelve and four"), and you have a total of three thousand pounds of loose boxes and heavy furniture in several pieces sitting in the middle of the sidewalk with Hurricane Irene 72 hours from landfall.

This is where Marvin and Harlem Express come in. I found them on craigslist and guessed that with our 3000 pounds of stuff (it was actually a bit less) and two flights of stairs, it was a two man job for about two hours. He agreed over emails and told us to call him as soon as it all arrived, and he'd be over within an hour.

When our stuff did arrive, Marvin and his partner arrived promptly (within the hour), but were surprised to see that everything was packaged in enormous wooden pallets (about 600 pounds each), under which was corrugated cardboard wrapped in plastic stretch film. In other words, simply getting our stuff out of the pallets would have taken two hours - not to mention the fact that we all initially thought this stuff would just be on the sidewalk for a simple hauling job.

The two didn't have tools but figured out a way to disassemble everything neatly and efficiently before moving everything upstairs. And after nearly four hours of disassembling, hauling, organizing, stacking, and cleaning, they were done. They put each labeled box in the appropriate room, they kept walkways for us to be able to use (realistically, we're going to be dealing with these boxes for about five days), were careful, meticulous, and extremely efficient. During the entire process, they kept me updated via picture message and were polite, professional, and, when it comes down to it, very impressive.

They laid everything out on the curb for pickup, leaving room for passersby. They were polite to my girlfriend and son, who were obviously too small to help in any impactful way. They kept everything clean and organized, and they did all of this with the utmost of respect for our home and property. I cannot recommend them enough, and would call them first if I ever have to go through this process again.

I have used Harlem Express twice to move between boroughs and both moves were perfectly executed, and most of all FAST. Marvin moves extremely quickly and efficiently (twice as fast as other movers I have used) and his prices cannot be beat (especially for two people working.)
