Introduction: I am available to teach bassoon to people of all ages and at all levels. Please feel free to contact me anytime. Bassoonist Ben Baron recently received his Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School having studied with Patricia Rogers. While at The Juilliard School, Mr. Baron performed with The Juilliard Orchestra and the school's contemporary music ensembles, Axiom and the New Juilliard Ensemble. Mr. Baron is an active freelance musician in New York City, performing with NOVUS NY, the NY Chamber Virtuosi, The Chelsea Symphony, Camerata Notturna, Ensemble 212 and is presently a substitute musician with Symphony in C in Camden, NJ. Last season, Mr. Baron performed the Mozart Bassoon Concerto with the Chelsea Symphony and Kyung Hung Kim conducting. He gave a solo recital in New York's Paul Hall and may be heard on the newly released CD "Centennial: Newly Discovered Works of Gil Evans." Raised in New Jersey, Mr. Baron began studying bassoon at the age of nine. A graduate of Juilliard Pre-College under Marc Goldberg, he has since studied at Mannes College with Leonard Hindell and attended the Kent/Blossom Music, Atlantic Music, Colorado College Summer Music and Eastern Music Festivals. Mr. Baron lives in Manhattan and is on the faculty of the Simons' Pond Music School and is pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music with Kim Laskowski. Striving to bring classical music to a larger public, he can frequently be found performing in the New York subway system, explaining to captivated listeners that it is a bassoon, not a didgeridoo.
